Brookdale Emerson

The administration just changed over. It was horrible before. The staff that deals with the residents on a day to day basis is very good and kind. The food is very institutional tasting. I am there weekly volunteering to do crafts so I see a lot. The residents are generally pretty content.

Our loved one seems happy. Her room is always spotless. They take good care of her. Food seems fresh. Dining staff is very attentive and we would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

No major problems,food is very good. Very friendly.the staff shows they care about the residents and go out of their way to take care of their needs. The benefit of having choices of food selections at lunch and dinner makes a big difference to the residents.

The staff at Brookdale Emerson really care. The quality of service is good. My concern is that Brookdale is undergoing a number of changes and staff turnover. Visiting hours and activities have been impacted. Admin appears somewhat unorganized. This may be a short term issue as Brookdale is onboarding new hires.

The staff try their best and I get along with them, however they are very short staff with aides and nurses. They need better quality of food, variety and more of it. The activities director retired. So I think they are looking to hire.

My loved one was a resident at Brookdale Emerson for a short time. They were okay and tried their best, but my loved one's needs were probably a little more than they could provide.

The staff members are very friendly, however the communication is poor and could be improved on. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families, provided they were able to have family supplement care.

Brookdale Emerson is a beautiful community in Emerson, NJ with beautiful grounds and a homelike atmosphere. It took me approximately 3 months to find the right community before I made my final decision. I'm glad I took the time to tour numerous Assisted Livings because now I am home in my community. The food is delicious, and the kitchen is run by a phenomenal chef [name removed]. The activities are great as well. It was important for me to find a community that could care for my physical needs as well as keeping me entertained on a regular basis.

So far everything has been fine. Our loved ones room and facility is always clean. The staff is friendly and attentive. They keep me abreast of her condition. All of the meals seem good my mom doesn't complain about the food. When it comes to the activities, they keep her busy. The overall value for cost is what I expected for her level of care

My loved one is currently a resident at Brookdale Emerson. Communication with the family could improve. Especially for family members who call and do not receive phone calls back timely. Many follow up calls are needed. Also, on my loved one's first day there was no official meet and greet and 'welcome.' That makes a huge difference. We had to find someone to take our loved one to her room and had to ask for the key. We needed more of a warm welcome. I would recommend this facility to family and friends due to it being more affordable than other locations.

My mother lives at Brookdale Emerson. The staff is nice and helpful. They could use a better meal plan, according to my mother. Overall, the experience has been good. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

We chose Brookdale Emerson over other places we looked honestly because of the price and availability, we needed a place urgently and had limited funds. They work with us and were quick The staff is amazing they give my mother-in-law great care. They are welcoming to us whenever we come. They also are great at keeping us informed. We received a call for any fall or fight she may have.

I visited six assisted-living/memory care units in the Bergen County area. This was by far the nicest one.[name removed] went above and beyond trying to get my mother into the memory care unit. They have brand new fully renovated apts. Through my research I discovered that this place has a very high level of care. And it came highly recommended by about five different people. The staff have been there over 10 years. They are a team that works together. I compared them to other places, the other places might look nice, but the level of care cannot be any better than it is here at Brookdale. The cost was also very affordable for this type of care.

Our experience with Brookdale Emerson has excellent so far. They accept the VA aid and assistance which for us was an absolute God send. I would definitely recommend to others looking.

Any questions I've ever had, they've taken care of and answered right away. I checked out other places, and their cost is very reasonable in comparison. It's like a nice hotel, very clean, very organized. They have a nice, roomy cafeteria. They seem to offer a lot of activities. They're very good to my loved one. I would recommend anybody to go check them out, especially compared to other places that I viewed. They've been very compliant in meeting our needs. The admissions person, the first person you ever interact with in the community, is especially good and very knowledgeable. She helps out everybody. She talked to me quite a bit to get everything organized, and I see how much she helps other families. She's such a good person, probably the best in the entire organization.

I would tell others the room is nice. The staff are good about returning calls to families. It is very hard judgement of the community due to the pandemic. We have been able to have window visits, and they have started outside visits for families. The biggest expense and headache is medication management and I feel stuck in the middle.

Our experience with this community was horrible, we felt that our loved one was neglected. She wasn't there very long but the last weekend she was there she laid in her filth from Friday night until Saturday afternoon until she was taken to the hospital for being sick and she ended up passing away a couple weeks later. We were very disappointed in her medical care. The community was kept clean for the most part, The reason we chose this community was the view, it seemed fine we were there. The activities did however seem good. The room our loved one was in was very nice, we had no complaints.

I toured the facility and was very impressed. [Name removed] is the person I met with and she very informative. The facility is smaller then some I visited but well kept and I was able to meet the activities person whom I also liked. Overall it was a great visit and I think it may be a great place for Mom.
