Staff is very friendly and always helpful. As far as the food goes, they need to offer bigger portions. Less gravy. More variety.

Overall there are some improvements that can be made. The food is VERY small portions. Does not taste that good. And if someone wants to order something not on the menu (that they told us is possible when we visited the first time) they are told they cannot. And if someone wants seconds of something they are told no. The food issue is feedback I have had from MANY residents there. If the food was a lot better it would greatly offset the burden of the cost. We pay a lot of $$ for the crappy food. My loved one has lost almost 15 lbs since they have been there. Our loved one is already too thin and cannot afford to keep losing. On the good side, our loved one has made a lot of friends and is doing much better overall by being there aside from the weight loss.

I moved out to my own place - it was not my cup of tea. Pretty clean. Very friendly. Care is to be desired. Activities aren't great. Very expensive. Filipino staff, language barrier.

April 18, 2024Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. Your feedback will be shared with management.
Our main challenge was that our parent was really beyond home care and needed to move to assisted living. We should have started getting help earlier. We tried to start with an hour of home care every morning for bathing, dressing and bathroom help, but it was hard to find caregivers for just one hour per day. So each day, we were never sure who would be showing up. It’s difficult to get used to one new person in your home, let alone several new people, and not knowing who would be showing up that day. One day we had a “no-show” with no call before or after to explain. Another day the caregiver was 20 minutes late, and it was the one day we needed them on time, as we were preparing for a doctor appointment.

I think it's a great facility. My friend seems to be happy with the care, just not the food.

Staff is very welcoming, recognizes that one is new to the community and then remembers their name going forward. Every Dept. meets new residents, if applicable, gets engagement with resident (example - activity dept. stops by and then discusses options, asks how they can assist, etc.) There is an Ambassador program that matches new residents to an existing resident to "show them the ropes" per se

Staff is extremely friendly and really try to meet all your needs. I do think that they should offer more crafty - type activities. Also, Dinner is 4:00pm - 6:00pm. I feel it should go later than that - 6:30pm or 7:00pm.

We had a great experience with the community. They were friendly and knowledgeable about the information we were looking for. We I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The staff still greet the family members when we come see our loved ones. My loved ones have enjoyed the meals here. There are three meals a day served and there are choices to choose from. There are several activities for the residents to participate in.

Stay away. Don’t go here. It didn’t turn out like they sell it - it was a bait and switch. I understand that it’s independent care, which is less than assisted living. But I may as well have my loved one living in an apartment. They don't come and check on him. They don’t do anything. He had Covid while he was there. And if I didn’t call and ask to have his vitals taken, they were never taken and I didn’t know how he was doing. While they did test the residents every three days, they were not requiring visitors to wear masks during the Covid outbreak. All they did was bring him food and pile it up in his apartment even though he couldn’t eat it, and even though we had asked for them to stop. They weren’t really caring for him based on what his needs were. People in scooters go rampant up and down the halls really fast, which is a hazard to people who are less mobile on their feet. They push you to be social when you don't want to be. They say they provide snacks, and they don’t. It was not at all as they sold it to us.

Staff is extremely friendly and dale loves them and is so appreciative of everyone who works there. The food is adequate and they have a sufficient variety. I think Brookdale has an excellent value, especially compared to ac couple of the other places that we looked at. For the care and support, the size of his apartment, etc. I think it is great.

All of the staff members are very friendly. Food is really good with amazing selections. The activities should have crafts more than once a week. It is expensive. Especially since meals are included with the monthly fee. My mom only eats dinner but pays for 3 meals a day.

We really like the setup of the community and the staff that are they who help our loved one with the daily medication have been great. However there are some improvements that could happen - there are pretty much no activities and the meals and dining service just keeps going downhill. Also the internet is very outdated.

Depending on the level of needs of your loved one, I'm not sure Brookdale would be a good fit if they have lower capabilities. I think they're having a really hard time keeping people employed. And while that's a nationwide problem, that's a big issue for Brookdale. They don't do a lot to engage their residents, specifically the people who aren't outgoing get left behind. The apartment itself is okay and well suited for my loved one.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Apache Junction 9.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
