Beautiful place and new. Lot of activities. Clients seem happier here. Large staff turn over. Staff and clients are nice enough. Care has been inconsistent and they do not return calls. This place is on the higher end cost for Mesa, which led me to believe the level of care would be better. I get that staffing these places is hard and the wages are low but the cost of keeping Family here is not a low cost.

My mother needed a place to recover from a bad fall. She had been discharged from rehab, but was still needing 24 hr. Care. She liked the room and the food choices available. Initially she ate in her room, but eventually went to the dining room. Staff were good, with some wait times when my mom needed supports. She did not participate in activities, which were numerous. Unfortunately, she fell again and had to go to the hospital.

June 13, 2024Hello Dianna! Thank you so much for the 5-star review. We're so glad you're parents are enjoying the activities. Please let us know if we can offer any further assistance! - ACOYA Mesa
The staff is very friendly and caring, from the receptionist at the door to the Caregivers and MedTechs. [name removed], the chef really tries to make meals that everyone likes. The room is spacious and clean with good lighting. Memory Care has its own entrance which is very secure and safe. There is a small outdoor area. There are a lot of activities in the assisted living area which Memory Care residents can attend with a family member or care giver.

The Executive Director, [name removed], sets very high standards for the staff at Acoya Mesa. All of the staff is very personable and go the extra mile to be helpful. The housekeeping is consistent and efficient. Communication with the family is excellent. The move in process was good. Chef [name removed] and staff are exceptional, as well. He introduced himself upon check in and asked favorite foods, etc. The meals are farm to table and very good! I would absolutely recommend Acoya Mesa to others.

Response from Acoya Mesa by Cogir
January 22, 2024Hello Wendy! We do set high standards here so all of our residents feel right at home. It's something all of us here take immense pride in. We're also so glad that your move-in experience was seamless. We know the transition into senior living can be difficult and we do our best to make it as easy as possible for everyone involved. As for the food, we love it too! We'll pass your compliments along to our chef! Thank you for sharing your experience - we love to hear it.
We're still adjusting and my Mother in law has had some falls, confusion and other issues so we haven't used everything as of yet. However, some of our favorite things for her are the dining options, the activities and the medication management.

The building itself is impressive. It is well run. The administrator is always available. In the year and a half we have been here, I have never heard any Aid say an unkind word to anyone. There are lots of activities available, and outside entertainment is brought in often.

Acoya Mesa was a lovely place, and was probably our 2nd choice. It was a bigger, multi story facility - bigger than we were looking for. It would have been a good place for someone who wants lots of activities and interaction with the other residents. (Our parents wanted to keep more to themselves.)
It's a little expensive. We picked this community because, the room was much better, and it's very nice. We are very happy. They are short staffed, so it would be nice if they hired more people. They serve the food buffet style, since they are short sffed. They use to serve the food restaurant style, and have servers. Overall, I would recommend this comunity to other families.

I really liked how communicative Acoya Mesa's staff and management were. I especially liked the design of their memory care unit, it was the best I've seen compared to the other places we toured. a beautiful and clean community.

We were so enthused about this place. It is terrible. Their protocols on COVID are terrible. They say they don’t let unvaccinated in dining room but they do. Their staff and some in administration, seem ill prepared and under educated for their jobs. I don’t ever write reviews for anyone or anything but this place is just one huge lawsuit waiting to happen.

They have had some turnover, and have handled it better than most places in the time my loved one has been there. I would highly recommend the community to others. Having visited other communities and this community cares about their residents, and work hard to keep everyone happy.

Even though my loved one was there for a short amount of time. This was a good solution for our family and our loved one. We were able to have window visits with our loved one, and our time was during the pandemic.

It came down between 2 facilities, we chose Acoya Mesa because when they called I liked their sales pitch more and the staff members seemed more down to earth. For 2 people, the room size they had was perfect for what they needed. They do also have different sizes to choose from based off of your needs. The staff do send texts and updates by phone calls as well, so they are good with communication. Overall, I have been happy with the services provided and we are excited that things are starting to open up. I would recommend to others who are looking.

Overall the assisted living is expensive, however the care they have given our loved one is tremendous, they have been very good. The friendliness of the staff members and cleanliness of the community really stood out to us, as well as the leadership and management team. They are very engaging and always make sure everything is going well. Our loved one is currently in a rehab facility and the Acoya team always calls us with updates on what is going on, and they even took a care package over to her and stood outside her window with a sign that said they love and miss her. They really do treat the residents like family. She has a one bedroom at Acoya and it is clean and well equipped for all types of care. It is always very roomy. This community offers a variety of food options, and the chef will customize and do what she needs to do to make sure they have good food to eat. She has also been very open to feedback.

A Place for Mom has scored Acoya Mesa by Cogir 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
