The only thing I would say that was negative, is that I wasn’t sure how often they consistently conducted their activities to keep the tenants engaged. My mom definitely needed that and I just wasn’t sure how consistent that was throughout the day. I really like it here. I have made many friends, enjoy the activities, and find the food to be really good. I especially enjoy the many musicians that come here to entertain. We also have many opportunities to get out into the community.

We have filed an MAARC report with the State of Minnesota. Broadwell Senior Living is a terrible facility! We would not recommend to anyone! Experiences: -incorrect medication given to resident -false reporting on blood pressure readings -high staff turnover -increase fee without assessment

My father moved out from Broadwell 2 months ago. The facility is perhaps too new. They were short staffed always in the kitchen, nursing, housecleaning, and bathing. Many others are moving out too. It is important that others thinking about moving in know about the problems they are having. I would not recommend them at all.

Broadwell offered many of the things we were looking for in a home for Mom. She is very happy with the design, size, and features in her apartment. The staff is friendly and they do work hard to provide activities and options for the residents. They hold monthly meetings to hear concerns and suggestions from the residents. Their biggest struggle has been the culinary offerings and staff levels....it is an ongoing work in progress.

We chose Broadwell Senior Living because the facility was clean, they have a fitness center onsite, there is the ability to have PT appointments onsite, many activities and the friendly staff. There does seem to be a lot of staff turnover. Not confident in the ability to provide nursing assistance if it becomes necessary.

What we like the most about Broadwell Senior Living is the electronic access by fob quite secure. We would definitely recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

The biggest difference between Broadwell Senior Living and [community name removed] is the new community has a willingness to work through problems and communication with the residents. This type of business is very new and [community name removed] has been more than eager to maneuver change as needed. However, I would recommend this community to other families who may need a place for their loved ones

My husband's care was not good so far as the aids. The nursing staff was really good with the exception of being short staffed. The upper management for the most part were kind and helpful. However, due to being so short staffed, I had total lack of communication to the point of total avoidance with the head nurse. From what we have witnessed with the care services wasn't good. Personal hygiene was not addressed and the direct approach was demeaning. Sorry to say!

It is a lovely facility, and I do like the layouts of the assisted-living apartments. The balcony option is very nice. They have fun activities for the residents and a highlight is on Thursdays, they have a social hour from 3 PM to 5 PM for everyone. It is nice that they have a salon right on site and also a nail option manicure/pedicure. They are very welcoming and friendly. However, I feel, depending on what kind of care is to be given to the resident that the aides/staff should be better trained and prepared. They do need to make some improvements on their culinary system, but I believe they are working on that. Overall, I would recommend the facility. My parents are happy there and that is what is most important.

Would recommend, however, not enough kitchen staff so meals are late or not well prepared. Both overcooked and undercooked. It is shocking that a low sodium diet is not offered. There is not enough care in preparing the food. For example it is common that desserts are still frozen or the directions for re-heating frozen pie are not followed. They have a new culinary director which has improved things a bit. The food is too dry. Meat is frequently overcooked. The fish is usually excellent. There does not seem to be any quality control. No one tastes the food. Great place to live, excellent.

I would tell a friend to move in right away. We picked Broadwell because the staff were so welcoming, upfront and respectful. The building and grounds were a great improvement over my mom's previous apartment building and staff.

They have a high staff turnover rate. I have had to have a meeting with the director twice regarding his care ( or lack there of) He is scheduled to have his breakfast delivered to his room ( he goes to the dining room for lunch and dinner) and they have 'forgotten' to bring his meal to him at least 4 times which is not good for a diabetic. I had him push his call button this week while I was on the phone with him and the response time was 29 mins. I am not very happy with the level of care/service. It is sad to treat our elderly like that. I do like the Bluestone on site physician services that are available there. There are also lot's of friendly staff too, but the staff that don't care and the lack of qualified staff ruin the whole experience.

The move in process was excellent and they were very helpful with that. Common areas were spotless. They were to come and clean rooms, but were not timely or as expected. And it was not done that great. Communication was not very good at all. I would have expected better communication from the office and the staff. As for the food, my dad always said too much rice and chicken was being served. Other than that, my parents said it was okay. I don't know if the staff was real pca, there was a problem with my mom and it was not caught or reported to me. A PT said that I should come in and take her to hospital. I think value was so-so, but it was a newer place. If there was a nurse on site and pca people with good communication, it may not be a bad place.

I would say if you have time, shop around. Word of mouth and resident recommendations are helpful if you have the time to spend. We picked this community because it was close to family. They had newer units that hasn't been lived in. Had just 2-3 weeks to make decision.Staffing is the biggest issue. Not enough. Weekends are worse than weekdays.

Positive comments for [name removed], the activity director - takes input from residents and provides a variety of activities. The handyman has been very helpful. Housekeeping for the residents is not great and they have had a lot of turnover. Food is okay, not great. My mom has no real complaints about it because she doesn't have to prepare it.

They have been very good. My loved one liked the food and they treated her very good. I think others looking would like the cleanliness of the facility and just how friendly everybody there is. I would recommend Broadwell to others.

A Place for Mom has scored Broadwell Senior Living 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
