My LO has dementia, and although the staff were all good to her, the residents were not. They were very cognizant, mentally able, while my LO was not. She seemed to be more of a bother to the other residents. They yelled at her, told her she wasn't welcomed, told her to go live at a place with "her own people". She cried daily, knowing that they didn't want her around. While the staff were nice, they didn't help in getting the others to include her.... Read more

There are activities, they were just not Moms thing. Mom prefers a different kind of structure to her daily life than what happens at Bethesda. Bethesda has outstanding food, they do great with personal laundry, it's pretty laid back about activities so things are happening-- she just didn't always know what, where, or when. We had some medication issues. Overall it's a good value but as with anywhere, keep an eye on what's happening with medications.

We left because medications were supposed to be administered by their staff. Timing of medication was irregular. Since some medications had to be taken a prescribed amount of time prior to eating, this also disrupted eating schedules. Laundry , if done at all, wasn't on schedule . Once when my mom fell, no one came when she pressed her buzzer. She was near the door, so she slid over and opened the door. Someone walking down the hall saw her and got help. We only put her in assisted living because her balance and moving around was getting harder. She was totally capable of medicating herself and doing laundry etc at home. When she moved into Bethesda, many of the things that she could do by herself were turned over to other people, so she lost control of many of the things she could do , and the people tasked with doing those things were not reliable. The falling situation was the final straw. Bethesda came highly recommended and the tour we got was great. The quality of the care was not what was advertised.

My loved one is currently a resident at Bethesda Gardens Arlington. Overall, most everything has been good for her at this facility so far. The staff are very friendly and responsive, though they are a little over worked and understaffed. The staff is also compassionate and caring, I just wish there were more of them. The meals are very very basic, not well balanced, and really need nutritional guidance. They contain way way too many carbs. The food looks like high school cafeteria food from the 1970s.

My loved one is currently a resident at Bethesda Gardens Arlington and overall it has been a very good experience. The staff have long tenures and seem happy with their employment. They have all been pleasant to my mom. They are responsive to all of our questions and calls. We have only had one poor experience so far and it was remedied once escalated. The meals are generally tasty and nutritious, but there are no significant options to the main offering. I would recommend Bethesda Gardens Arlington to others.

The facility/staff at Bethesda Gardens Arlington are amazing! They really take the time to care for the residents and make the building feel like a home. I do think that they could have more variety on the food menu.

It's a transition for all of us to go through, residents and families alike. But the staff are really nice. And as long as you can find a place with nice staff, you can work through anything else. The number one thing is we all want our parents to be happy and be in a place where they can feel special, appreciated, and loved. And that is the case for my loved one here at Bethesda Gardens.

No kitchen manager, a lot of foods are cold meals served on paper plates. The staff that is there are good. They do the best they can. They are short staffed currently. We have reached out for more information as the prices will be raised as of this month.

This community was nice it just felt like a hotel, it did not meet my loved ones needs and was too high class for us.
We did a virtual tour with Bethesda Gardens and it was very informative. It was not the right fit because of the visual impairs my loved one has, so we decided to move him into another facility.
This is a great small community that is very professionally run by a very caring staff. My mother was well cared for and it always appeared that the staff was genuinely interested in the well being of the residents.

It is been good until COVID hit and now I can't in and her doctor can't get in. My loved one needs healthcare which is a real concern right now. The food is terrible. The caregivers are great, friendly, very sweet, and my likes them. We chose this community because is was smaller,my mom liked the room, total cost was all inclusive price, and proximity to my house.

My mother lived here from [dates removed]. The management is awful: my mothers room flooded three times and they moved her bed without telling me and she fell because they did not have her bed at the angle she was accustomed to. When I came to visit no one was at the front desk and I never could get a straight answer about my mothers care. I noticed she declined rapidly after that fall, and that move. The caregivers were always sneaking out the back door to smoke together. I pushed my mothers call button and it took over an hour to have them respond. Someone broke the plug to my mothers hospital bed: they had the head up and the feet up and left her that way for a week! My mother was miserable. The management promised to apply a credit which they never did. I moved her to [removed] in North Arlington.

This place is a high priced institution. They don't let the residents interact with their friends and I am sitting by myself for all meals. I spend most of my time by myself in my room.

Rooms did not have a living room area, and no full kitchen. Nice people, but not a good fit for my parents. Bathrooms are being remodeled and were the best bathrooms I saw of all the facilities.

We did a walk in tour and were impressed with the friendly, caring attitude of everyone we met as well as the pricing and cleanliness of the facility. It did not have much outdoor space, which is very important to my mom.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
