The common areas are very dated and could use renovation. The apartments are nice. The few of the staff are wonderful. More like a Nursing Home than Assisted Living. It was an acceptable “stop gap” for my parents when I had to move them quickly but if I had additional time to research, I would have found a different facility where their lives would be happy, fulfilled, and a life full of laughter, good food, and caring staff. There are some amazing staff but those folks are rare. Lots of turnover (but that’s typical with post-Covid) and traveling staff who just do the minimal. A trip out to the Dollar Store isn’t an enriching experience in my opinion and some of the events are a bit juvenile. (In my Dad’s words “We’re not babies, just old”). My parents may need a little “gentle prodding” to get involved in activities but they felt like they were being “nagged” to go to activities. Facility didn’t take the opportunity to ask my parents when they moved in what they liked to do and create activities with other residents that may have the same interests. There are 3 meals a day but the food is not good. There isn’t a lot of protein but a lot of cold cuts and salads. There are 2 choices for lunch and dinner with a open-style breakfast. It’s very “institutional” food and nothing like “home cooked food”. No flavor or spices, food is very dry and overcooked.

The staff are great (although they seem short staffed). But my parents hate the food, and there are limited activities.

We chose Bentley Commons at Bedford because the atmosphere was very good. We found newer places that seemed almost too sterile and there was not enough of a community atmosphere. This facility was established and there were more residents so lots of things were going on and there was more interaction. It is a little bit less expensive too which played a part in our decision as well. I would tell others to make sure to take a tour and figure out if it is the right fit for your loved one. We would recommend them.

Bentley Commons is a very welcoming and very lively place, when we came to tour there was a lot of activity going on. One of the main reasons we chose this community is because they have an arrangement with an outside therapy company that offers physical, occupational, and speech therapy. However since our loved one has not been there they have not had a speech therapist. We know staffing is a struggle but that has been our biggest disappointment so far.

So far the Bentley Commons community has been nothing but clean and the staff members are really friendly. Since we are not the ones eating there we do not want to take the meals and dining service, but they do have some activities. Today they are actually taking the residents apple picking, and we do know covid has impacted their ability to do a lot of things but we still wish they could have a few more activities.

I chose Bentley Commons mostly due to the location. My apartment size is good for what I need, but they do have options of different sizes as well. I have found that the food is very hit or miss. I do think the facility itself needs some updating but I would recommend them to others who are looking.

The activity selections were nice and it was awesome to know that there was an exercise physiologist on staff. My mom felt it seemed more like assistive living vs independent living when she walked in. This facility has both assistive and independent living however assistive living is on the first floor (for safety) but was the most visible. Having this mix did have other benefits such as access to medical services. Staff were super I e a d invited us back to try some activities or a meal.

The price was more affordable at Bentley Commons than some others that we looked into and they also had availability at the time. Also, we were happy with the correspondence we had with the staff member. We only visited here twice as I am out of state and then COVID hit, but the staff here were always very helpful and accommodating. They were always pro-active in trying to get my dad to be motivated to participate in some activities. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking. I would want other to know that you have to be ambulatory in order to participate in the fire drills that the facility does.

Before COVID, the community was great, they have been awesome about things such as regulations and cleanliness, etc. I am more concerned about the mental health that I've watched my mother and other residents that are here struggling with due to the lock-down and lack of socialization. They tend to leave my mother for long periods of times because she is in a wheelchair. The meals are in Styrofoam containers. The residents seem to be very lonely. I love the facility as far as the space, but at the other facilities I toured recently they are getting to socialize. I think they need to be a little more creative and open more things up at Bentley Commons.

My 82-year old mom hasn't been this happy in a long time! She was having some difficulty taking care of herself in her own home, managing her medications and meals. While she was reluctant to move and "give up her independence," it was the best decision we ever made! She was isolated in her own home, whereas now she has made so many friends and has really taken to the social activities and daily interactions with the caring staff, nurses, and aids who treat her with kindness, love and respect. It has truly changed her life for the better. Before moving to Bentley Commons she was depressed and easily consumed about her health problems. Now she has other people around her to socialize with and activities to keep her busy. Truly life changing for her and so happy to see her happy again!

My dad has lived in this community for 4 1/2 years and is healthier and happier than ever. This community has a perfect mix of privacy with spacious apartments and private bathrooms for all and wonderful and engaging social events. Dad loves chorus, happy hour with live entertainment and cool outs on the patio. The entire staff is fabulous, especially the nursing care.

I found the entryway and common areas and hallways a little worn and gloomy. The dining area was bright and cheerful and the one bedroom unit was the largest I have seen so far with the most storage in the kitchen area and throughout the unit. The only place with a full size fridge.

My father moved in November and we have been very happy overall. The biggest adjustment for him was having to have the staff give him his medication as he is still very capable and independent, but he finally seems to be comfortable with that. The staff is very good and responsive. There were a couple things that were a little different that what we thought up front from our meetings and interviews, but those items have been worked out. We are very pleased and my father is very happy there.

I have been a little bit disappointed in Bentley Commons at Bedford . They said they have a doctor on call 24 hours a day but actually you have to make an appointment and it's not always available. Mom was having a terrible time with medication upsetting her stomach and it took me intervening to get things resolved. They say do all of these things and they don't live up to it. I expected a lot more care especially given the price. In the speech they gave us at the beginning they said the staff would respond to them pushing a button. Well, my husband had to go there just to resolve simple issues like fixing the TV. They are supposed to do a thorough cleaning and it's hard to tell that they have done that. My mother was not getting a shower because she didn't want to and the staff weren't pushing her to. The facility is very pretty. The food is repeated a lot. I don't see a lot of socialization going on. Overall I am just not getting what was promised to me.
