My mother passed away about a year ago. We loved Belmont Village Thousand Oaks!!! They were absolutely amazing! The program they offer for Dementia patients was really fun and helpful with memory issues. My mother was a teacher in her working days. She was really impressed with the curriculum. At first we were told Belmont prices were really high. When we went, we found out they have a flat rate which covers everything unless you need depends for incontinence. Those would get charged separately. We didn't need those. My mother's vision was really bad and she ended up feeing safer in a wheelchair since she couldn't see where she was going. They helped her shower, came and got her for classes, I could go on and on. They went on outings to get ice cream, drives along the coast...all included. We were at [facility removed] where they kept charging more and more without telling us why or what the charges were for. Belmont was true to their word. One flat rate for everything. Boy was it worth it!!! Privately owned. The effort they put in to understanding the level of cognitive level of each resident was impressive. We sat through the first test with my mother. She actually improved with time. She was placed in a group of people with similar cognitive levels. They were always together which helped keeping things consistent. This program was amazing! As the family of a resident, we were always invited to join in with their activities. My brother, sister in-law, my husband, and I all agreed that when we need to move to a place for help...Belmont would be our first choice!... Read more

My parents are needing more help than Belmont can provide. Belmont did not live up to their price tag - it's too much money for the amount of care they provide or don't provide. If you don't need extra help, it's great. If you need any assistance with anything, it's poor/fair.

The Residents, staff and management were all lovely. My Mom is now in a wonderful Board and Care home after a fall and broken hip at Belmont. Yes, we would recommend this community to other families but only if you don't need a lot of assistance. Board and Care better if you need more care. They are just not staffed to give the care most people need, unfortunately. Lovely nurses and caregivers, just not enough of them. Our family experience was a positive one, friendly staff, great caregivers, overall a really nice community and lovely residents.

As far as we are concerned, it is the best facility in this area by far. My main reason for saying that is the staff. They truly love what they are doing, and treat the residents with dignity and kindness. The overall atmosphere is warm, upbeat, and welcoming.

Response from Belmont Village Thousand Oaks
February 29, 2024Thank you for the kind review. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Executive Director for any questions or concerns you may have.
Our family had an in person tour with Belmont Village Thousand Oaks and the tour experience was great and everything but it was pricey. It was a lot more money, but the location and services were great.
The Circle of Friends program is outstanding! Very few places have a transition program for seniors who need more support than assistant living offers, but are not yet ready for memory care. Not only is the program outstanding but the three group leaders are amazing! They know the members of their group so well, and treat them with respect, love and dignity. I can't say enough about this program!

Just like so many places the staffing challenges have created barriers to receiving a 5 score. Dining room and pals are in short staff. That being said all employees that do work give 100 percent effort.

Response from Belmont Village Thousand Oaks
July 6, 2023Thank you for taking the time to leave this kind review. We are glad to hear that your parents are comfortable and engaged in the community. If you have any questions regarding their care, please reach out to our Executive Director.
The staff is diligent about checking on my Dad. The Circle of Friends leaders consistently come get him to participate in their program. The Circle of Friends program has helped tremendously in helping trigger memory and encourage speech and cognitive interaction. The nursing staff consistently gets him his medications. The in house PT and OT have helped him regain balance and movement. The meals are well done and provide variety. There are several engaging presentations brought in regularly. The pals are good at checking in on him the amount that he needs. It was more at first, but as he has regained more independence he has requested less. At first he needed help showering. The pals did help, but not as often as we had thought or requested. I think that may have been due to understaffing. He did get a shower at least 1x week. He has since regained independence and the ability to shower himself. Pals take care of laundry each week. Overall a good experience.

My loved one is getting her medications very late at night and they do not take my loved one to get food. We are just having some issues right now.

It was a very disappointing experience. Their assurances were that everything would be fine because "this is what we do." And that turned out not to be the case at all. They were friendly enough to sign us up. But in the end, it was not a very nice experience.

Response from Belmont Village Thousand Oaks
October 19, 2021Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with Belmont Village. Our mission is to provide every resident with the support and opportunities they need to thrive – physically, socially and mentally. We’re sorry you feel your expectations have not been met. We’ve shared your comments with the respective parties.
Our family had an in person tour experience, and it was a phenomenal facility. It was perfect, there were not fowl smells. The only reason we did not choose the community was because of the cost, it was pretty expensive.
We chose Belmont Village because my mother needed more care than her previous facility was able to provide, As it turns out the marketing person knew my parents from her past facility. The location also played a big part in our decision as well. The room sizes here are on the smaller side, my dad has a small studio and my mom in memory care was sharing a room. Overall, the staff has been very flexible with everything going on we would recommend the facility.

Considering, but apartment prices and distance are not as favorable as other facilities. Seems to have a high level of care for my parents. [name removed] was very responsive and got back to us right way with the detail that we requested.

The Belmont in Thousand Oaks is poorly managed. My mother in law is a resident, regrettably. The turn over rate for employees is very high, particularly the pals, (care givers). The pals are very caring and hard working, but they’re not appreciated. Usually, there is a shortage of pals. Recently they’re we’re only 3 pals on duty. The food at Belmont is inedible, since theres a high turn over of chefs. Residents regularly meet with director, Bradlee, to express their concerns and make suggestions. Bradlee tells the residents that she will “look into it,” Clearly she doesn’t do anything cause nothing ever changes. The shortage of pals continues and the food is always terrible. If Belmont cared they would replace the current manager with someone who is more caring and competent.

My 93 yr old mother fell down and fractured her hip. After the Operation she was never the same. I had to move her to Belmont because she Could no longer swallow very well and her mental and medical conditions changed. When they did the first assessment she still made sense. Shortly after moving in , it was obvious she needed to be in memory care which is now her final spot. She is. under the care of hospice as well as the staff at the Belmont. I am now satisfied. Basically, my mother was losing it and I felt that she wasn’t really being looked after as much as I felt she needed it. When hospice came in and more or less made appropriate improvements I felt satisfied. I am only giving four stars because even though they try there is a lack of communication between the nurses, the pals who do all the hands on work and the head staff. It is lovely and if you have a loved one that isn’t so close to death, I would look into moving someone into the Belmont because I’m sure it would be a great placement.

They give you a hard sell to sign you up and then make promises they don't keep. Service is horrible and inconsistent. They don't check on their residents as they promise. Food is not fit for seniors -- google "greasy food stroke risk seniors." They promise to fix what's not working and never do. Staff and management don't really care about the residents and there is a high staff and management turnover. Residents are very unhappy and think there has been a major change for the worse over the last year.

The Belmont Village Thousand Oaks was a lovely tour. It is a beautiful community. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. My friend had some concerns regarding the memory care security. Not the right fit.
