My parents wanted to stay in their home town. Our experience is based on one other community. Bayberry was very pleasant and helpful in making our decision. They were able to step back when needed in order for my parents to make this decision. The overall cleanliness is a five. It has been hard for my mother to adjust to the weekly cleaning schedule under "light cleaning." There was a house cleaner shortage when they arrived but that has been resolved. All staff is extremely friendly, from housekeeping to administration. Residents are known by name. Family is known by name/ sight. Quality of care appears to be excellent. There are levels of care. The care givers are willing to go outside the level of care for immediate needs. This is not a medical facility so care is referred out to the PCP unless the resident is signed up for their NP service. There had been an out break of Covid a short time ago and it was handled very well. The meals are good. There are no diet restrictions applied. It is up to the residents to choose what will meet their Dr's orders. My parents are not fancy or picky eaters. The menu has a nice choice and variety of foods. The dining are area is cozy and very comfortable. The activities are many and varied. They put out a monthly calendar. The days list of activities can change as late as the morning of depending on the staffing. It is hard to make times to visit ahead. My father used to weld, do woodworking, gardening and things around the house. The community is trying to adapt some of his hobbies to fit in with the community and safely. Bayberry is considered upper end to the other places in town. We considered this when comparing to the other community. Bayberry offered more as they had the additional staff to support the activities. The atmosphere was very pleasing to my parents.... Read more

My loved one was previously a resident at Bayberry at Emerald Court and our experience at this facility was an awful experience! Based on our experience, I would not recommend Bayberry at Emerald Court to others.

My 84 year old father was a hospice resident in the memory care floor at Bayberry. He was brutally attacked in his bathroom by another resident. We did not hear about the attack until 9 hours later and then not told about the severity of attack. We asked for meeting with Executive Director of Bayberry and were refused. Police were called to Bayberry and still Executive Director would not give statement Massachusetts Elder Affairs is investigating.
Overall Great Community, loved the facility but too expensive for our needs.
The people here are very friendly, both the employees and a vast majority of the residents. The facility is very clean and well taken care of. Housekeeping is a 5 out of 5, they come in about 2-3 times a week. They make our bed daily, and do our laundry once a week - which does include linens, towels, and clothing. Everything is always returned neatly folded. My apartment is spacious enough for 1 person. As far as activities we have exercise classes, different games to play, and entertainment that comes in quite frequently. I would recommend Bayberry at Emerald Court to others.

We really liked Bayberry. This was actually our first choice but we were on the waiting list. We had a crisis occur and needed placement right away and there was no availability when we needed it.
I can not say enough about Bayberry. The staff is what made us choose Bayberry for my mom. From the minute you walk in the door, you feel the love they have for what they do. I know my mom is well fed, taken care of and looked after. Other places we checked into had an odor we couldn't get past, not here. My mom has made new friends and is the happiest i've seen her in a long time.

The community is always clean. The staff is great and they greet you at the door when you visit. Whenever I see them interacting with residents, no matter what time, they are all really patient and kind with everyone. My mother doesn't need a ton of care, however what I have seen is good. They help the residents eat if needed, they keep them entertained, and they do the laundry. Absolutely a good value for the level of care. Especially compared to other more expensive communities in the area, we feel Bayberry has been great. They also locked down very early during the Covid-19 pandemic and have done a great job protecting the residents and staff.

There isn't anything about Bayberry that isn't great. The entire staff is outstanding. It was a really tough transition for my mother to move in here and they were exceptional with handling that situation. The only thing is that they are a bit pricey, however during the whole Covid-19 pandemic, they have been phenomenal and they are clearly doing everything they can to protect the residents. Previous to this, everything was great, then once the pandemic hit, we really got to see the level of care that they are willing to go to help the residents. We would highly recommend them!

Bayberry was amazing. [Name removed] and [name removed] spent a great amount of time and answered all her questions. [Name removed] went beyond any expectations. He introduced us to residents and made us feel welcomed. The tour was great and I think mom would be happy here.

Half a star is a push. ED here provides no support, we wanted to speak to someone when we were here and nurse said to see ED, ED said they don't have no one but her and that she is doing everything for everyone and ready to fly, then she brushed me off and said she'll let "someone" know and get back to me. That was 3 weeks ago! I see her and she avoids me, said I have to wait. I say - give your money someplace else, I'm getting my loved one out of here too. Food is inferior.

My father was sent out after a heart attack and I didn't even know! The so-called nurse has even said she didn't think he should be sent even! I am sick thinking how many times did this happen to him before? I asked to meet with the Executive director and she brushed it away to go talk to the same nurse who did this!

Administration and all staff are very welcoming, responsive to questions, and helpful. There appeared to be a temporary shortage of staff and some disorganization around my mother's initial placement (regarding level of care and financial costs) but administration worked with me to resolve all issues to my satisfaction. Staffing levels appear to be good and the quality of staff-patient interaction appears to be very good as well. Having an advocate certainly helps any elderly adult placed in residential facility. My mother is still adjusting though appears happy at Bayberry and I feel good about choosing Bayberry.

Response from Bayberry at Emerald Court
May 23, 2017We're happy with your experience here at Bayberry!
This is a nice small community inside of a 55 and older housing development. It does not feel like an assisted living community. There is a walking path around the community. The staff are friendly. They offer daily activities and the food is good. The community is clean and I would recommend it.

February 24, 2016We're so happy you and your parents had a great experience and transition! Thank you for the kind words, and if you need anything at all, you know where to find us!
Bayberry at Emerald Court is located in a beautiful 55+ neighborhood. The staff is very knowledgable and pleasant to work with. The rooms are large compared to other Assisted Living places and very clean. The environment and decor is bright and welcoming. The dining room is beautiful and large with a dance floor, bar/pub, and a piano. The daily activities include exercise class, mystery rides, live entertainment, comedy shows, cribbage, bingo, Left Right Center, art classes, restaurant trips, errands around town and various card games. The staff will customize the activities (if needed). The food is outstanding. Bayberry is outstanding and highly recommended.

Response from Bayberry at Emerald Court
February 12, 2016Thank you so much for all the compliments! We're proud to be a wonderful option for seniors in the Tewksbury area. We're glad you had a great experience.
I was very pleased with Bayberry in comparison to the four others I had seen. My dad has found a girlfriend here so he is very happy. It's very clean, safe and the staff works hard to keep the place moving. I was surprised that assisted living doesn't provide more health care but learned they are not hospitals. I bring my dad what he needs for the most part and they administer it. The residents here were younger than some of the places I toured so this was better for my dad who is still in pretty good condition and needed people with whom he could converse. Very friendly place!
