When we made the decision to move my dad from home, we were so overwhelmed. [name removed] with Avalon, made the process so easy. She walked us through step-by-step and kept us focused on the important things. She also helped us figure out what to tell my dad. We were so nervous! The Director also was really good to let us know how dad was adjusting.

October 21, 2024Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re so glad to hear that our staff was able to support you through the transition with your dad. It’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed during such a big change, and we’re thrilled that they made the process easier for you. Knowing that the Director kept you updated on your dad’s adjustment is also reassuring. We appreciate your trust in us and are here to support you and your family every step of the way!
My sister was diagnosed with early-onset Dementia in her late 50's. It was such a blow to our family. Things became difficult at home very quickly and she just was not safe and my brother-in-law was so overwhelmed. The lady that helped up and walked us through the admission was very knowledgeable and made the transition so much easier than what we anticipated. We love the staff and anytime we have a question or concern, they are quick to respond.

Response from Avalon Memory Care - Irving
September 9, 2024Amber, thank you so much for this kind review and it was Avalon's honor to care for your grandfather. Residents absolutely become like family to our staff and other residents. It was a privilege to be of support and we send you and your family all the best!
They had a wonderful care giver that used to mom the floor all the time. My boys won't touch anything if it touches the floor now. They can't wait to use hand sanitizer once we leave. They have had a HUGE staff turnover. Only 1 person there that was there when mom moved in. My mom seems happy, but can't tell me what happens. She is clean for the most part. I have to ask for them to wash her hands. They are usually dirty when we arrive. It is the same crap. You can predict what they will be having for lunch. Residents aren't excited about most of the meals. I've never seen them do any activities. They have painted Mom's nails once. Mom doesn't sit still, so that could be the issue. I think they watch tv 90% of the time. Cost is cheaper, so you get what you pay for. They have had quite a few resident move out in the last few months. We are currently looking at a new place for my mom.

Our family was very pleased with the level of my brother’s care at Avalon Memory Care. They recognized right away they were going to need assistance in nursing care and were able to help him qualify for Hospice Care at the facility. They always listened to our concerns about his care. The staff at Avalon Memory Care are very caring and always treated my brother with respect. I visited my brother every day and was received with opening arms. I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for 24/7 care of a loved one with dementia.

This is a nice facility. Big open living room where the residence all gather to watch TV. They all look so content. [name removed] and all of the staff were so friendly every single time I interacted with them. Very helpful. Everything was always clean. I can recommend this facility and there staff wholeheartedly.

I moved my husband into another memory care in the area. They assured me that they could handle my husband's behaviors and care. He has advanced Parkinson and Lewy Body Dementia. His hallucinations can be bad and it really takes someone that understands this to care for him. Avalon was a God-send. I am so grateful that they quickly came to our rescue.

We moved my dad in last year and we have been very pleased with his care. We also really like the Nurse Practitioner that sees dad at Avalon. We had to make a move from another memory care that went out of business and Avalon made this transition very easy not only for dad, but also our family.

August 14, 2024Thank you for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that Avalon was a fantastic place for your brother. It means a lot to us to know that he was well cared for and comfortable.
Avalon was a godsend for my father. After we had an absolute nightmare of an experience at his previous facility Sunrise that ended up kicking him out, Avalon welcomed him with open arms. The director Matthew is incredibly kind, professional, and even helped me move in my dads items on his day off. Himself and [name removed] made sure they were always available for me when I needed something. They kept me well informed, and were very understanding of my fears and sadness while watching my dad go though the normal process of decline with Alzheimer’s. My mother and I would visit my dad several times a week and he always looked like he was being well cared for - showered and shaved, teeth brushed, room was clean and bed was made. [name removed] was my angel caretaker who took a true interest in making sure my dad and the other residents were doing well. [name removed] was also wonderful and always doing a great job. [name removed] the med tech kept me up to date on his meds and helped me coordinate with their PA.

The cleanliness was not necessarily in the bedroom but in the activities rooms. Some of the staff members were really nice. When I went to move him to [community name removed] I could not get anybody to help me do anything .

My sister had early onset dementia. This was so hard for our family. Her decline was so rapid. The staff at Avalon was so loving and compassionate, We also were blessed to work with a great hospice that came into Avalon and helped care for her there. We are eternally grateful.

Went to tour the Avalon Memory Care Irving location, as I am looking for care down the line with my husband with dementia and Parkinson's. The lady that I toured with really educated me on Lewy Body Dementia. There was so much I did not know. We are a few months form needing care, but I know when we are ready, Avalon will be at the top of our list.

I moved my dad in to Avalon Irving last year. He was asked to move from the memory care that he was in because of his hallucinations. They can be very bad and the Avalon staff knows how to work with him when he is having them. We were thankful that we found good care for him.

July 9, 2024We're glad Avalon in Irving has been supportive for your dad's needs. It's comforting to know he's in capable hands. Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us!
My mom had dementia and dad was her caregiver at home. When dad was diagnosed with cancer and they both needed care, we had no idea what we would do and how to keep them together. We toured Avalon for mom, and the lady that we met with explained that they could also care for dad. We could not have asked for a better situation. So grateful for Avalon.

July 8, 2024We're deeply grateful for your trust during such a challenging time. Providing compassionate care for both your mom and dad was our privilege. At Avalon, we strive to create supportive environments where families can stay together and receive the care they need. Thank you for choosing Avalon and for sharing your experience with us.
Even though he lived here at Avalon only a short time before passing away, my father was well taken care of. The staff is dedicated and kind. During his first few days, Dad was disoriented and scared at times. The staff anticipated this and gave him extra time and attention, sometimes just sitting in his room with him, watching TV or reading aloud to him. When they were briefly locked down for a positive Covid test, the staff made sure each resident got extra attention. One young staff member spent an HOUR in my dad's room, helping me get the new TV set up! My family and I were free to come any time and we were always welcome to participate in whatever activity was at hand. Dad was always clean and his room and bedding always fresh.

Strong points are residents spend a lot of time out of their room with others. Negatives are staff seems to turnover & not sure who is in charge if there are issues you need to speak to someone about.

Right before COVID as airports were beginning to shut down, I knew I needed to move my 95 year old mother from her assisted living, and get her close to me. I didn't have much time to tour, but was able to see a few places. Avalon's Admission's Coordinator really made the difference. She stepped in and I felt like she took the weight off my shoulders. The care staff was wonderful and absolutely loved my mom, Ruth. Avalon made a really difficult situation much easier.
