It's absolutely terrible. The cost has increased $[removed]. They always have an issue with bedbugs and cannot seem to get them under control. They are severely short staffed. I would never ever ever recommend it to anyone.

My father was a difficult frontal dementia case. When we would visit and he was always with people. The talented activity staff could interact with people of different severity levels. The design of the facility engaged my father's need to wander. The staff and administration were available and attentive to our needs. They were always welcoming and came to know us. The pricing structure of the facility was predictable and straightforward. We felt lucky we were able to have our father spend his final months at Arden Courts. It probably saved my mother's life.

I think they do a good job. There are four pods/hallways, each with about 10 rooms. The unit my loved one is is well managed. They take really good care of everybody. They’re very patient and good with their residents. The food is good. They make their own food right there and have their own chef. Although sometimes it’s hard to get ahold of the staff, the people I’ve met are friendly and open. They’re very patient and willing to answer any questions. They have a lot of activities - I see a lot going on when I come to visit. And they try to get my loved one involved. The cost is high, but they're able to handle my loved one with dementia behaviors. They have a psychiatrist and a physician on duty. The nurses are good, and if something needs to be changed, they work with me to do that. If anything goes wrong, they call me right away. And I appreciate their diligence in keeping me up to date with what is going on with him The director is very pleasant, cordial, and accessible. There is a nice ¼ mile enclosed walking area that is well planned and pretty, with sidewalks and not dirt to walk on. There is also a courtyard with tables and gazebos. If you feel like you can afford it, your loved one will get good care here.

We picked this community because, when I went on a walking tour, this was the best. There is very little communication from them. The only contacts have been when something is wrong ie falls, UTI etc. Would be nice to get call or text: "She's adjusting well", "Likes to sing in Activities", etc. All in all, I would recommend them!

They have great activities. We picked this community, because they were very knowledgeable of my loved ones level care, that was needed. They are very straight-forward, kind, and knowledgeable. My advice to other families is to, ask for guidance from the community.

This community has been great so far. Excellent choice for memory care. They have actual Drs, Psychiatrists, and Therapists on site. Communication with the family is great and thorough. They call me often with updates. The outside patio area is so nice and also has a walking path. The room is bright. They even have my loved one participating in activities, which I never thought I'd see. It's been a great experience so far.
The staff members during our loved one stay was super friendly and extremely helpful. Where ever our loved one was they would bring his meals to him. We have no complaints whatsoever. We sincerely mean what we are saying.

This was a beautiful community. It was too big for my loved one.
I really liked the openness of the facility and ability for residents to go outside. They have a garden area as well where the doors were always open. The facility is all on one floor and in villages, it is not institutional and more home like. It is a smaller place so it is more intimate which for me was a big factor. I would definitely recommend to others who are looking.

They had memory care for my loved one. The lady we spoke with was helpful. Our only drawback was they didn't have any lift experience. They were clean and were advocates for my loved on during rehab.
They had very little staff, and there were a few people that were great. I moved my loved one from another community to this community. There have been 12 death cases via COVID. The community didn't do anything to remind him to shower, change his clothes, brush his teeth, or medication, etc. When they would ask my loved one, he would say no due to memory care issues. The activities director were great. They would help residents in anyway. The activity directors took turns to assist with the residents. They didn't have any help to assist with about 30 residents. This is about the aides not knowing how to deal with memory care residents, and if your get a good director who hire the ample staff, then this community would improve, in my opinion. It was nice that residents could go outside for fresh air. This allowed some residents the ability to walk around. I would see people falling.

We hated Arden Courts of Towson on Bellona Ave. Within 30 days of move in, our loved one had lost 10% of her body weight, fallen several times and was admitted to the hospital. Upon arrival of the hospital she had a UTI and nurse said her urine looked like chocolate milk from dehydration and malnutrition. Arden Courts on Bellona Ave experienced a high turn over rate in staff, as well as understaffing openly admitted by the director. They also acknowledged that the staff was i need of training. I witnessed many examples of abuse in the facility as well, both, verbal and neglect. I highly encourage A Place for Mom consultants to visit the care facilities they are recommending.

The main thing I liked about this community is the amount of activities offered. I would give the activities directors a ten. They did not do a very good job of keeping mom's room clean and taking care of her personal needs. Some of the aids did not seem personable or approachable. The food looked pretty good.

So far, the transitioning period has been okay for my loved one. It really helps that the staff work with him very well. They have a lot of patience with him and are really attentive to his care. If he doesn't want to have dinner in the dinning room they take him his food. I feel that he is in a very safe place and would absolutely recommend it.

The regular staff is responsive and there are several that are amazing. The building is clean and brightly decorated. There are activities that keep the residents engaged. They are sensitive to residents needs. My only concern is building maintenance does not work on weekends. The staff makes repairs on weekends.

I think this community is a nice looking facility, it was clean when I took my tour. I found that this is a place for resident with Dementia and Alzheimer. My dad does not need that level of care yet.

They are caring for my wife here and I am very pleased with everything this community has done for us. The community is clean and my wife's room is always clean when I visit. There is always someone ready to help to you and someone is always looking after the residents to make sure they are safe. They have a very well trained staff with good food.

Overall our experience with Arden Courts has been a good one! It's a nice looking place, and they've got a great activities program to keep the residents entertained. They also do a good job keeping families up to date on how their loved ones are doing, although I would like to see a little more detail in the information they provide.

My wife and I were impressed by the sales woman Kay. She told us her background, that she had a nursing background and she was the most knowledgeable when it came to dementia. We felt the executive director Tracy was friendly and thought we picked the right place. We thought Kay was going to be more involved in my mom's care from the way she talked to us. That is where her help ended. The staff is not anywhere near as trained or knowledgeable about dementia. The nurse was awful to deal with and the caregivers had no clue what was going on. Half the time I had trouble tracking one down or did not know who worked there. Some of the aides wore jeans, big head scarves, and many of them played games on their cellular phones. Maybe it is possible at one time this facility had a better reputation but I recently moved my mother out of this facility. My wife, sister, and I were rushed looking for a facility for mom. Kay offered us a 30 day respite and we could NOT even stay a week. The price we were quoted was not the bottom line as we were told. In less than a week we had to hire private duty care 24-7 on top of the price of the room mom was in. One of the benefits we saw was that it looked all inclusive. I found out from the aide that she had worked with other unhappy families at the facility and it was not her first time there. In less than 4 days my mom fell and broke her collar bone, I still have not been given the true story (there were 3 versions given to us). To make matters worse we found 3 different medications in mom's bed and clothes. We were told that is typical when we mentioned the pills. I called the original senior advisor back when we wanted mom out of there and she told us to look up the state survey, which I did not know existed before we picked Arden. They had multiple infractions and I do not know how they are still licensed. Seems to me someone should go in and check the books and the patients. It was the senior advisor who told my sister and I to question the facility about the medications we found because they are known to have a problem. She told us not all Arden Courts had a bad reputation as this one and that they had turned over most of the staff including directors and nurses. Luckily my mom is safe and out of there.
