I often think that many in the area could hear my huge sigh of relief when we at last found Arden Courts to serve my mother, whose Alzheimer's disease was rapidly progressing. The community is kind, caring, and professional. They offer many stimulating and fun activities. My mother engaged with her caretakers. She had a beautiful room to experience nature as part of her world. She appreciated everything about her room and the independence she had that could be safely afforded to her. I would highly recommend Arden Courts to anyone who knows they must either take or prepare to take the next step in helping a loved one deal with this cruel disease.... Read more

The woman who works with families that are interested to send their loved one to Arden is very good. The executive director, who is the face of Arden to families with loved ones staying there is more of a bean counter. Seems a decent fellow, but low on warmth and pro-active communications. It isn't the fanciest, but it feels like home and my Mom is doing better than I could have hoped for there I would absolutely recommend Arden Courts.

Everyone at Arden Courts Northbrook is VERY caring. This facility is head and shoulders above [facility name removed] where my loved one was at previously. But, communication with psychiatrist about meds has been difficult.

We like the experience of Arden Courts that the staff has. We also really like that there are no stairs whatsoever in the place. It's great that he can get around and go outside in the courtyard during the spring and summer. Although Arden Courts doesn't have all the bells and whistles per se , what's the point of having a fancy place if the people aren't experienced and caring?

I had looked at possible places for my husband for two years around the Northbrook and nearby areas. The last place was Arden Courts. When I walked out, I called my son and said, "This is the place!" There is very little turnover of staff and training is ongoing monthly. When you walk around, you see a staff that is happy to be there, and always engaged with the residents. I took my husband to the Orchid Show at the Botanic Garden, and on our return, he said, "It's good to be home." The atmosphere is very homelike and safe at the same time. They have two nice courtyards that are connected with a sidewalk to go on short walks. The residents can walk around freely, no locked doors within the living space. It is always clean. When I visit, they know me by name and often share a story or conversation about my husband. Activities are varied with lots of enthusiasm! They have monthly family activities which include our grandchildren!

August 27, 2024Your feedback is important to us, and we really appreciate you taking the time to share it. Thank you!
From the minute you enter the facility, there is a sense of warm and caring from the front desk person, to the main administrator , to the staff overall. They know their clients and assist them in anyway possible . The activities director has activities for all levels of the residents . We are grateful for Arden Court and all who work there. They maintain good communication with the families whenever necessary and have family programs throughout the year . The administrator oversees the community carefully and is involved with his staff , residents , and families .

My mom came to live with us at the beginning of the Covid outbreak and it was so difficult. She needed a sense of safety and community, and that’s what we found at Arden Courts. The transition wasn’t easy, but the experience, professionalism and patience of the staff made it possible. She has been at Arden for two years now, and thrives on the company of her fellow residents, the tremendous energy put into enrichment programming and outings, and the attentiveness of all the staff, including housekeeping, food preparation and service, and medical. I can’t say enough about the caregivers. All you really need to know about Arden is in the data on caregiver retention. Many have been there for over a decade and it shows in the level of calm, competent problem-solving I see every time I’m there. The front office and management are welcoming and responsive. My heart goes out to anyone needing this kind of care and families needing to make these decisions. Arden Courts is the best!

Mo has been living at Arden Court community for about 10 months now. We moved her in at the right time - she was able to familiarize herself with her new home and caregivers before her dementia was such that things might become confusing or frightening. She feels safe and secure and the personalize care is spot on. The staff encourage independence and treat my mom with such dignity. She feels a sense of purpose and belonging. Every time someone comes by to visit or I take her out to a doctor appointment she goes on about how much she loves Arden and could not find a better place. I feel so fortunate and grateful - putting someone in memory care is never easy but Arden truly smoothed they way and has delivered consistently with moms care. Arden's design and layout is simple yet absolutely perfect for the people who live there. The activities schedule is varied and engaging. Last, but not least the staff has meaningful resource for me as I make this complex journey with my mom. The full time staff wonderful, temp staff can vary

Even though it is older facility they did provide very good care. Staff were always accommodating to our needs. It is a smaller facility and they have been around a long time, everybody here seemed to be comfortable and content. They were also good with communication and returning phone calls. We looked at a lot of places and this one was the best fit for her. I would recommend them to others looking but also tell others if you make a visit depending on what others you have looked at it is not glamorous as some of the newer ones do. It is not about the glamour, it is about the staff.
Arden Courts itself have a good vibe/environment with the way it is set up with the pods. It is also very cheery and bright. The administration was great, they had support groups for parents and children of the residents who were in the facility and things like that. We did have one unfortunate issue with some of the staff, they stole her ring that she has worn for 70 years off of her finger. Overall, it was a nice facility and I would recommend to others as long you can afford it.

I love meeting with [Name removed] . It is such a powerful statement on the facility to have someone working there with personal experience having her husband living there. I loved the intimate feel that Arden Courts has - I feel that the rooms were a little too small for what I want for my mom

Putting your loved one in memory care is never an easy decision, but when you arrive at the point when it is necessary it can be overwhelming! My mother has been there two years. Arden Courts is different than other memory care facilities for a few reasons. First, when you walk in, it doesn't feel sad. It feels like a place full of life and community. Second, the physical setup of the building is very helpful to people living with dementia. There are four wings in which the residents live, organized around a central community space. This space has large windows that let in plenty of natural light and have sofas and chairs for lounging. This space is sort of circular, so the residents can wander without getting lost. It is just large enough to give the residents a feeling of freedom, without overwhelming them. Third, there is lovely, secure outdoor space that is available to the residents, weather-permitting. Again, it is circular, so they can follow a path around the building without getting lost. There are picnic tables and outdoor furniture for lounging, plus nicely maintained gardens. The physical spaces are very nice, but the staff is what makes Arden Courts really special. [name removed], the marketing director, made me feel welcome from my first phone call, despite my dithering over whether or not it was the right place for my mother. She never pressured us, and was always responsive, kind and understanding. [name removed], the Executive Director, is also fantastic and I never worry about bringing her my concerns. She is super accommodating and kind. The caregivers are wonderful and patient, and if I'm being honest, should qualify for some kind of minor sainthood. [name removed] has been like an angel for my mother. I was initially very concerned about how my mother would adapt to the transition to Arden Courts, but it was extremely smooth. She seemed very reassured by the rhythms of the place; everything happens on a reliable schedule, which is very comforting to people with dementia. The staff know how to handle the transitions well. The community at Arden Courts isn't just for the residents, either. On my mother's first day at Arden Courts, as I was leaving I broke down and cried. Another relative hugged me and told me that we were all family now, and that has been true. I've gotten to know so many wonderful families at Arden Courts. If I could have done anything differently, I would have made the decision to send my mother to Arden Courts probably a year to 18 months earlier. If you are considering memory care for your loved one, I would strongly encourage you to consider Arden Courts. Memory care is all they do; they will understand your struggles and know how to move forward with you.

I toured here when I was looking for a place for my Aunt and everything was going great. I was going to have her stay there for a bit but they backed out on me last minute. The facility was kept pretty clean but the building itself was set up kind of weird. It was like four square corners with maybe 10 rooms per square. They talked about the different activities that they would provide, balloon toss and painting being a few. I would’ve loved for my Aunt to go here but they backed out last minute and didn’t give me an explanation why.

My mother has been at this community a little over 2 months now and we loved it, it is a good place for her. They take excellent care of her we finally have the peace of mind that she is being well taken care of. I think the thing that stands out the most is their communication. The director, front desk lady, caregiver, nurse, and doctors have all communicated very well with us. This place is truly very different from the place she was at before.

I have been pleased with Arden Courts since my father moved there in 2015. He was living at another facility in Florida, and the difference is amazing. The staff is very caring, professional, very accommodating, and I appreciate what they do. The facilities, activities, and food are all great. I visited many facilities, and am still pleased with our choice.

So far, everything has been going smoothly. I appreciate all of the help from A Place For Mom in finding this community. The only thing that I have found to be a pain in the neck is the situation with the drugs. They require a 30-day pack in order to dispense them. I would recommend this community because so far, they are taking very good care of my loved one.

Arden Courts has given peace of mind to our family – my mom has lived there for almost two years and I couldn’t be more pleased. The initial reaction to AC was very difficult - she was angry and frightened but the staff was very helpful in that regard. They continue to show such caring and compassion for my mom and her fellow residents. Unfortunately, they didn’t take Medicaid, so when my mom runs out of money, she’ll have to leave AC, and that will be really hard for all of us.
