I toured this community and it was beautiful! Very clean place and the staff was very friendly. The décor is a little more feminine, but nice.
My family said the employees were very good and patient with my mom and dementia.

I didn't care for the food. There are quite a few people around the community that would use walkers to get around the community. There were other residents helping the residents using the walkers, instead of staff helping the residents down to the dining room. The staff didn't recognize what I said about assisting the residents down to the dining room. This disgusted me very much, since the staff didn't listen to me. The rent was too much. They would charge to do the laundry and they didn't explain the charges to me about what the do and don't do for the residents. I would not recommend the community to others. The staff didn't always understand English and it was hard to understand them due to their heavy accents. The community had two nurses; however, they don't do any type of treatments. If you wanted treatment you had to bring in your own nurse.

The staff do care about the residents and they have a decent numbers of people who have been there for a long time which also tells us they care about their employees which is very important. We would recommend this community to others.

We chose Allerton House because we really liked the staff, they had updated the facility within the last 5 years, and also the fact they had memory care unit that seemed really nice. If she needs to, it would be an easy transition and I would feel comfortable with her being there. The room sizes are very good. I think it is very important for whoever is looking for any facility to go visit in person to see if it would meet your needs best and if you like the staff.

I would highly recommend it. The community keeps the residents engaged and safe. They have multiple activities, the friendly nature of the staff, and I think they really take care of the residents. My loved one had a one bedroom.

I really liked this facility very much - it was very nicely decorated, bright and inviting. Felt less like senior housing and more like a nicer hotel. I loved that it has a walking trail and beautiful grounds with nice views. A lot of differing and open spaces for residents and their families to enjoy. [Removed]was extremely nice and very helpful in discussing options between independent living and assisted living. Rooms were good size though carpeting seemed aged and in need of deep clean or replacement in the actual resident room that I was shown.

Great location, peaceful lsetting, walking distance from my home, close to town offerings and transportation to Boston. Well-designed U-shaped studio, where bed did not take center stage! Plenty of storage, feel of privacy and ownership. Lots of activity options, 2 meal seatings, staff knew residents by name and history. A real sense of caring.

My mother-in-law wanted to stay on the South Shore of Massachusetts as she has lived in that area all her life. Allerton House was the most impressive and the most reasonable facility in the area. The move in transition was made easier by allowing a "Try It" stay. Once there, my mother-in-law did not want to leave. She loves the staff, food and activities. She is already making friends. Our only area of confusion is the personal care services. We know what the paperwork says is included in assisted living but we can't quite get a handle on who does what when. No schedule has been put in writing. My mother-in-law often gets things confused so we, her family, are unsure if she has been offered the services or not. Hopefully, we will be able to straighten this out with time.

Overall we've had a good experience with Allerton House, they've done a good job taking care of my loved one. The facility itself is well kept and clean, and the staff have all been friendly and professional. They're able to provide some really excellent care here, and also offer a good variety of activities and events to keep the people who live here active and entertained.

My loved one has only been here a short time, but so far our experience has been a good one! The facility itself is beautiful, clean, and well kept, and they seem to take great care of the people who live here. The staff have been really good about engaging the residents. From what I have heard all of their staff have been there for years, and really know the ins and outs of their job.

This was a newer community, more expensive. It’s for assisted living. The price is just higher than we were looking for. We only spoke with the sales folk. We went with a different community that was really more homey and cozy.

A Place for Mom has scored Allerton House at Hingham 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
