10 Wilmington Place is great! Even though I am in independent Living I feel very supported by the staff. The food is good and nourishing. they have a staff member that is good with technology and is always happy to help with any issues that you may run into. I feel like any suggestion I have made to better the community has been taken seriously. I enjoy how I am not pushed to go to activities but when I do choose to go, I am welcomed like an old friend.... Read more

We actually went to the facility itself and had a video tour in the conferrence room. Here we were able to go into an empty apartment in independant living which is very similar to the assisted living apartments. Here they actually suggested mom try the independent living with the addition of an onsite homecare option, and if that proved inadequate she could move to assisted when available. They thought mom sounded like a good fit for that as she is largely independant. This is a large community on beautiful grounds. This was mom's first choice.

I think the services are great. The staff are all really good at what they do. Everyone seems to be well informed and consistent will the care. As far as the COVOD-19, I feel they have been really proactive and outstanding. The community's biggest limitation is the food plan. They lost their chef, and the quality has changed. I think the food is really important to the residents. I am hoping this improves.

I have to say that we were doubtful about the idea of moving my dad away from home, but I am very comfortable with him being there and I don't worry about him at all anymore. In fact, my mom with be moving into the independent living soon and they will then be in the same building and can have meals and go to activities together. I also like that they offer the continuum of care. The environment is gorgeous and they have the ability to get outside on the beautiful porch as well, The people who work there are so nice and I am included in his care and I always know what is going on. I should add, the residents there seem so happy. I have never heard them say one negative word about the community. We are very pleased with our choice!

Lovely facility. My aunt can not afford it...but my mother would love it here if she ever needs residential care.

maybe, may look into it later, This is an old building and does not have in-apartment washer and dryer. Cable and internet not included and the fee is 2000. Sounds like a fun place. .

Both [name removed]and I really liked this place. Dad seemed interested as well. Dads only concern is the price. That and he just doesn't think he is ready, though we have discussed many times, I think it is starting to make sense to him. Of course he has to talk with his lady friend, she is a bit more stubborn than he is.

I met with [name removed]. She is awesome and I love the community. I think my parents would love it here if they chose to move here. This is a place I would like for them to visit before deciding on a place to live. It kind of reminds me of life on a cruise ship and I love cruise ships. You have hallways, cabins, a restaurant to eat in, or you can get room service, there are lots of activities. There is something for everyone based on what they like to do.

A lovely place. Excellent menu. Pendant call system, facility has lots of extras. Excellent activity schedule. Rooms are spacious with kitchens. Kind of hard to figure out exact cost because of add-ons for laundry, WiFi, extra meals, etc. They have no respite.

After touring various facilities in the area, Wilmington Place appeared to be the best choice for my family member. The staff is super friendly and helpful and they remember you! They check on residents if they don't attend a meal, which offers me peace of mind. The facility is clean and well cared for. The dinners and buffet on Sunday are good, provide options and are appropriately sized for portion control. And there are lots of activities for the residents to keep them moving and socializing, if they choose to, which I love! Although I would recommend the location to friends, I would preface it with some advice. The price quoted initially was not what it ended up being. This differed by hundreds of dollars, as each unit location apparently is priced differently but was not fully disclosed during my search. I would also note to recommend finalizing the price before providing your family member's financials, as I felt like that impacted the price once disclosed. Many of the ancillary costs like cable, food and other items are not flexible and seem a little high for the value. And although breakfast is provided as part of the package, in my opinion, the options are not healthy choices and cannot be deducted from the price charged monthly if the resident opts out. Because my loved one has diabetes, they now typically make their own breakfasts to reduce sugar and carbs, which seems like a financial loss in what they pay monthly. This was a big transition for my family member, having lived alone for many years. So some of these comments are based on both of our assessments since moving in and could be simply just a change in their lifestyle. After some time living there I am sure these concerns will lessen as many residents have been there for years and appear to be happy and well cared for. The good news is my family member met, and made, some friends in just a few short weeks from entering the facility and appears to be happy overall, so I am satisfied with the decision we made.

Response from 10 Wilmington Place
November 15, 2018Unfortunately, there are very rare occasions when a resident does not successfully adjust to living in our community setting. In those extraordinary situations, we do our best to help the family find an appropriate facility for their loved one’s unique situation. Like the family members involved, we as owners feel incredibly disappointed when we have to ask a resident to move, and it is only done when we have exhausted all possibilities of caring for the resident in our community. We do our best to deliver the highest quality care to all of our residents, and feel that is reflected in our Perfect Score from the Ohio Department of Health in 2018.
Beautiful facility, ALOT of natural light. Rooms are spacious and priced very reasonable.

Loved the facilities and some of the unique amenities. Disappointed that two bathroom and in apartment laundry rooms were not options. Overall excellent place!

My sister has recently made the move into this community and I could have not picked a better place for her too go. The staff are absolutely amazing and I am comfortable with the care she has been receiving. She has really been enjoying the dinning experience with the other residents as well as the activity program. This place has made a world of difference in her attitude and she is very happy with the outcome.

This is my second tour of 10 Wilmington. I still feel it is heads above any of the other facilitates I have visited. I love that has been family owned for thirty years. The condition of the building and grounds is VERY impressive. Super nice people.

run away and find another place. This is a for profit place that charges rent and provides zero care. When in Independent living and confused about how to navigate the halls and elevators to get to the basement dining room the response from staff was-if you can't figure it out, move to Assisted LivingL. Well AL was even worse. 4x the cost of IL and NO assistance. Charged for Level 2 of care when not on any meds, or in need of physical assistance. Was told assessed at LV2 because of the need to be reminded the time to take the elevator down a floor to the dining room. Housekeeping did not empty trash, vacuum, help bathe, wipe off vanity or mirror...did I mention NEVER a care conference? Do I need to go on? After paying for 4 yrs and running out of money, the staff all of a sudden found the family's contact info and said they did not have the accomodations to care for her any longer, even though upon move in Sally and the Controller told us they would take an AL Medicaid waiver. Deceit and lies no honest caregiving here.

February 20, 201810 Wilmington Place has been providing quality senior care in the Dayton market for 30+ years. We regret you felt the need to write this review, but we respectfully disagree with many of the comments. As displayed in most of the reviews on-line, we have a strong customer service history and remain committed to providing a welcoming and caring environment.
We narrowed down our options to a few things like pricing and how the communities were different. None of the tours were bad. The staff here were excellent to meet with. The woman, [removed], gave us the tour and answered our questions.

I moved my mother from this place 2 months after she moved in. All show and no go as far as assisted living care. My mother had doctor's orders to have pureed thin diet and honey thick liquids. I visited my mother in the dining room on many occasions and she was given regular meals which could have caused her to choke and/or aspirate. She was also almost given her meds in pill form with a glass of water to take with the pills, when all her meds must be crushed and put in pudding before ingesting. I do not recommend 10 Wilmington Place Dayton OHio

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
