This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include activity programming for persons with dementia, leisure time activities, behavior management, and health monitoring. Staff must receive education in a number of subjects. These include: community policies and procedures, development of service plans, first-aid, and fire safety. There must be one toilet for every 1 residents and one bath or shower for every 1 residents. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include these meals must meet residents special dietary needs, these meals must meet the recommended dietary allowances based on current dietary guidelines for Americans, communities must provide at least three nutritious meals a day and a nutritious snack, and therapeutic diets must be provided if ordered by a physician.
