This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include assisting residents with self-administration, communities must assist residents with self-administration if requested, and assisting residents with storage of medications. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include the provision of assisted self-preservation, described as personal services, administration of medications by a certified medication aide, and assisted living care. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include at least three meals, one nutritious snack, and any therapeutic diets ordered by a resident’s health care provider must be provided each day. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 25. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as assessment to determine the resident’s functional capacity with regard to ADLs, assessment to determine the resident’s medical needs, personal preferences relative to care needs, and A written care plan must document the assessment findings.
