The Bureau of Health community Regulation licenses this community type. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to ensure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as communities must document such assessment, monthly nursing assessment of resident as ordered by physician , community must document any substantial changes in a resident’s status which may necessitate relocation to a more specialized community , and medical examination report. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 1. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include reading the label, staff may take previously dispensed, properly labeled containers from where they are stored and bringing them to the resident, and unlicensed staff may assist residents with self-administration. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include assistance with self-administration of medications, personal care services, nursing services, and assistance with activities of daily living . Staff members obtain education in a variety of fields. These include: infection control, reporting incidents, resident behavior and needs, and emergency evacuation. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include the community must provide a variety of regular meals that meet the nutritional needs of residents, meals must be adapted to residents preferences, the community must provide therapeutic diets as ordered by the resident’s health care provider for residents who require special diets, and meals must be adapted to residents physical abilities . Public assistance is available through 1915(b)(c) MLTC program.
