Memory Care
Crescent Point At Niantic has a beautiful location; it's comfortable and easy. They're very friendly when you come in, especially with everyone having to wear a mask and taking your temperature, just everything that comes with this stage that we're in right now. They haven't always gotten back when I've called and asked questions, so I did have to be a pain sometimes. But, all in all, they definitely care for the people that are there.
It is friendly and the staff is really welcoming. It's a very light hearted place; they work very hard to know everybody and they have eyes on everybody which is very helpful as a family member. They know more about my dad than I do sometimes, as they see a different side of him - which is nice.
Staff really do quite a bit, despite it being ASSISTED living. It's overall a great place. They really get to know your loved one. They will be as involved with the family as the family is involved - therefore, you won't hear from them unless there's an issue. But if you're an invested family member, you'll know all about your loved one's day. At times you will find that if you don't ask, you won't know - for example if your loved one needs something. They will push certain agencies for outside help but it's important for families to know that it's always up to them who is involved in their loved ones care. You may have to push back a bit if you want someone other than who they prefer. It's a federal law that there is a choice in hospice, therapy, doctor, specialists, etc. They technically have a podiatrist but he's never there. Best to keep your own outside podiatrist. No hairdresser either - prepare to be responsible for your family member's nails and haircuts. No dentist that comes to the facility, but I don't think any places have that. The rooms in memory care are pretty large, both the room and the residents own bathroom. Great space and closets
