I was expecting the director to be more responsive to requests for information about my loved one. The facility itself is quite nice and the staff seem friendly, but I expected more for the high cost.

My father fell 5x in 25 days on memory care floor. The last fall he was sent for emergency surgery after refracturing his left hip, thus destroying all the hardware, and underwent a total hip replacement. Facility charged my father [fee removed] for a new nebulizer then at discharge switched it with his one from home. Basically stole new one. Ordered W/C and didn’t check his insurance wanted him to pay [fee removed] out of pocket. A referral was made for a visiting nurse, my father has 3 medical diagnoses and takes 4 medications, question is WHY? When I was packing up his belongings, I found his [fee removed] bedside hospital table in someone else’s room. Facility did not want to return a [fee removed]medication, like pulling teeth to get it back. Nursing staff lied to my son about medication having already been picked up, it was sitting in supervisor’s office, janitor retrieved it for us. Lots of passive/ aggressive behavior noticed after complaints about frivolous charges and care. Staff rude!!Dad home now & SAFE!!

I'm pleased with the responsiveness of staff and think the pieces are in place for my aunt to have a good experience. I picked this community because of proximity to family and where my aunt used to live.

Response from Crescent Point At Niantic
January 10, 2024Hello Cw, Thank you so much for the wonderful review. We are so glad to hear about your experience with our community. Our dedicated associates take great pride in providing the very best experience possible and your compliments are a highlight for our team. Thank you for sharing, and thank you for choosing Crescent Point at Niantic!
My family and loved one have had an average experience with Crescent Point. The community was clean when we would visit our loved one. There are meals and activities to assist the residents with socialization. I would say the nursing staff and CNA's could show more motivation, interest and personal focus on residents under their care. People should not just drop their loved ones there and think they're ok - they're not. You get very little for the expensive price tag! It's a shame.

Response from Crescent Point At Niantic
June 22, 2023Hello, We are sorry to hear about your experience with our community. Would you mind sending us some additional information at customerservice@benchmarkquality.com so that we can learn more? Thank you.
The tour we had with Crescent Point at Niantic was great, we liked this facility very much. It was too large for my loved one whose dementia was causing her to deteriorate, so we wanted something smaller. It was also very expensive. This would have been our second choice if a room did not open at a smaller facility, from everything we saw the place looked great.
Crescent Point At Niantic has a beautiful location; it's comfortable and easy. They're very friendly when you come in, especially with everyone having to wear a mask and taking your temperature, just everything that comes with this stage that we're in right now. They haven't always gotten back when I've called and asked questions, so I did have to be a pain sometimes. But, all in all, they definitely care for the people that are there.

I toured Crescent Point at Niantic and they were going through some renovations at the time. I actually took two tours; during the first one she took a lot more time to show us everything as we were just beginning our search. The second tour was not as thorough, perhaps because I already knew it. I saw their memory care area during my second tour as I didn't see it during the first one. We chose another community because we got more bang for our buck, and the apartments were much nicer.
It was a great tour but we were not ready for that step of care for our loved one yet. Very nice, very clean and spacious.
The care services have been very good from what we can see, but we are a little concerned with the lack of physical activity on the memory care side. We wish they would have more of a stimulating environment. Non skilled nursing community and is expensive.

While our loved one was there, they did a good job. The care our loved one needed they were able to handle, she needed a assisted living with a medical room and they were able to accommodate that. We were happy with then, and given the circumstances they did their best with communicating to our family. The meals and dining service we think was good, our loved one seemed to like the food. The staff was fairly attentive, and everything worked out it was a good experience.

It is a very supportive community. The staff are absolutely wonderful and very proactive. The best part of my dad being in the memory care unit is that it is a small group which allows the residents and staff to form bonding relationships. Another main thing is that when my dad is having his moments, the staff call me and put he on the phone so we can talk. The staff are excellent at calming him and redirecting his as well. His transitioning from home to their memory care went really well. My dad actually understands that the staff take great care of him and are there to help him with whatever he needs. He says they feed him really well! I know, without a doubt, that my family made the right decision in choosing Crescent Point for my dad.

My mom was in Crescent Point, moved in from another assisted living because of the level of care she needed, and they are the only option in this area that said they could provide what she needed. The other facility was a thousand times better and right down the road. The nursing staff at Crescent Point is unapproachable and they do not take any responsibility for miscommunications or errors. I wouldn't recommend going to this place if you have a loved one in need of extra care. They say the can provide it but it is fair at best.

Visited to organize a meeting with the staff member responsible for discharges, as I am a senior manager for a Home Care agency and aside from providing lists of services to businesses like this one, I keep a log of rehabs, nursing homes, etc to help in elder care planning with clients who live in New London and Lower Middlesex counties. While the receptionist was wonderful in helping me, a short, white-short haired woman rudely shooed me away as wasting their time, although she was not at all included in the conversation. She told me if I was worth their time, they'll call me. It was disgusting. I will most certainly not be recommending this facility to my clients, as clearly they do not work well with elder care planners and this isn't the type of attitude any elder would need in their time of great need. I pride myself in providing the best locations for my clients to recover in, this one's attitude is the worst in the New London County and as an elder planner- I can only say A V O I D it.

I almost chose Crescent point for my mother. Everyone was so professional and the community was clean. I liked the overall ambiance there and they seemed adequately staffed when I toured. They seem to be well established and have it together. The reason I did not chose Crescent point is the location, it was much farther than I would have preferred.

During my tour of the Crescent Point At Niantic, I met the nurses and the staff. The place was nice and clean. The tour guide was very friendly and took me around the entire building. We chose another community because of location, but this was a good option.

My husband is doing pretty well at this community. They are caring for him and his needs very well. The staff is very nice and helpful. It is a nice safe community, the staff is very kind also. I've had one issue with the laundry services, but things have since improved. There are activities offered for the residents. I had lunch with him one time, and the food was nice. It has been a good experience. I know he is safe, and this is a community I would recommend.
