I had been working on my parents for approximately two years to agree to a move. My step mom has severe dementia and my dad had to become the main person for everything, something he had never had to do. They lived 2 1/2 hours from their closest family member and were pushing people away and making excuses for not coming to anything, always at the last minute. I finally had enough and ignored their last minute request to not come visit one weekend. I found them still in bed at noon when I got there. Their home was filthy inside and out. They never got out of their pjs that day and refused to open any windows or go outside and the visit was very uncomfortable as they are both chain smokers. From that day forward, I got my brother involved and moved them into American House in less than 3 months. It’s the best decision we could have made! They are still adjusting, but the activities are endless for the residents there. A place for mom was a great starting point for me and very helpful.

I really love American House to date they have been great! The medical team also good and for the most part can't complain. I would recommend. So happy to be there. We are In the memory care unit but they are nice there. Food could be a little better and would wish they would help straighten up the room for them a little more but that it not a priority - they keep things pretty clean. No smell of urine, etc. Again we are happy and my cousin is checked on and supervised often always cared for which is most important

One reason we chose American House Westland was that lower entrance fee. Also their rent was a little bit lower. But when we toured the apartment it was very clean and the staff were very knowledgeable and easy to work with. There is a non-refundable community fee payable for these places - for am house Westland the venoy it is $[removed]. For the other am hse in Westland (unaffiliated with venoy )it is $[removed[. Someone who is trying to move in there has to come up with a sizeable chunk of money.

The best part of this location is the fantastic FOOD!!! I've been to 4 places this year and this one out does all the others by far in the food area. This place is very nicely decorated, clean, friendly and helpful personal; very nice rooms and large baths. Call lights are answered promptly (except sometimes at night) and (except for a small ant problem) its great here!

Always ask the questions that you may have, never assume. The staff is wonderful. Be involved, be present. Know that American House Sterling Heights and Medical are two separate entities, in the same location. The kitchen staff does the best that they can- they work hard on making something that everyone will enjoy. Just know that not everyone will agree with it. When we had to move mom into the Memory Care hallway, American House was very supportive and we were able to get mom moved over quickly. I would, and have, recommended American House Sterling Heights Senior Living to others. Not all American Houses are the same, but the one on 15 Mile/Dodge Park is wonderful.

We picked this community, because It seemed so bright, homey, and friendly. I would recommend it. I would move there if I needed it and could afford it.

We have had a great experience with assisted living at American House Stone Senior Living. I love the accommodation and the services that they offer.

We have had a great experience at American House Sterling Heights. The staff take such wonderful care of my mother. They are so loving to her. And she is so happy there.

It is a smaller facility so if someone has difficulty with memory issues it is easier for them to get around. There are only 60 residents so it is much easier for the staff to keep their eyes on everybody. If your loved one is high maintenence, this is not the place for them. I would recommend American House Elmwood to others looking.

All of the above categories, in comparison to other places we investigated, are better at American House.
