The William in San Antonio, TX
4.5 / 5.0

[Name removed] was a sales manager that helped us initially. She was wonderful with the move-in process and even helped us find some movers to help move my dad's furniture. The nurses and housekeeping people that I met were very nice as well as the staff in the dining room. I liked how the dining room felt more like eating out instead of a cafeteria, so I think that's really nice. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. When I call the front desk to check on things for my dad, they're always very nice and friendly, and they know exactly who I am. I would recommend this facility. The William is a nice place. And is a good fit for my father.

The Forum at Lincoln Heights in San Antonio, TX
4.6 / 5.0

I chose The Forum at Lincoln Heights because of the friendliness of both the staff and the residents here. As far as the food goes - So many of the dishes are covered with sauces or gravies. Offering the dishes with these on the side would be a major improvement. The vegetables are over cooked. They do have a good variety though.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home provides lodging to at least two seniors who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. This type of facility offers its residents around-the-clock care by registered nurses. These nurses provide health related services for seniors who are unable to take care of themselves.

Nursing homes are a convenient and easy care option for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will commonly allow access to persons 55 and above which is uncommon for other senior care types.Often times individuals might prefer to live in a nursing home over another type of facility due to a mental or physical disability that prevents them from easily accomplishing their lifestyle goals. The most common mental condition effecting residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can hinder their memory recall, and familiarity with their surroundings, and decision making capacities. Examples of amenities and servicesprovided at nursing homes might include home care (like cooking, cleaning, or help with other daily activities), personal care (including dressing, bathing, and toilet assistance), wound care for pressure sores or a surgical wound, and help with legal questions. Many residents of nursing homes are humanswith behavioral problems, which can span verbal fits, resisting help, or a propensity to wander. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to have your representative notified about your care, be free from restraints, participate in activities, and be treated with respect.
