Cleanliness was, I would say, above average. That was the thing they did the best. The only activities they had consistently were movies, bingo and once a month a one man band kind of thing. there were two people to a room, and they could bring a tv or dresser but the rest was hospital beds and felt very much like a hospital.

The meals are fine, just typical hospital type food. The doctors have called as they've seen her, but nobody else has really reached out in the week she's been there.

The Bristal at East Northport
4.5

The staff at the East Northport Bristal is always kind. They always have a smile on their faces and are genuinely sweet and loving to my mom. The facility is ALWAYS spotless and beautiful to live in or visit. The only area I see occasional improvement for is the food. It is not always hot and more fresh veggies needed. The personal care and overall facility is excellent.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home provides residence to at least two persons who have no family ties to the administrator. This type of establishment provides its inhabitants with care administered by registered nurses. These caregivers offer care for those who cannot properly take care of their own needs.

Nursing homes are a familiar and comfortable care choice for individuals 65 years and above, however nursing homes will frequently admit individuals 55 and greater which is unusual for other senior care types.A large portion of nursing home occupants are seniors who have incontinence issues, experience difficulty with hearing and vision, require assistance with daily tasks such as walking, or have a physical or mental disability. Some services come at an extra cost which can include personal clothing, specially prepared food, and cosmetic and grooming items. Many residents of nursing homes may have behavioral problems, which can consist of verbal outbursts, a tendency to wander, or resisting care. Nursing homes are required to provide dietary services, pharmaceutical services, specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability), and emergency dental services to residents. Many inhabitants are bachelors or widows with less social support, and about half of nursing home residents are over 85 years old.
