Avita of Stroudwater in Westbrook, ME
5.0

They did try to take good care of my loved one. They offered daily activities and the community was clean. The food was good. My loved one was only there for a short time as we realized he needed more care than they were able to provide. They oversold themselves on the care that was available. They gave out incorrect information in regard to some programs that may have been available. I would recommend asking about the security at this community.

Stroudwater Lodge in Westbrook, ME
4.0

So far it has been a great fit for my mom at the Stroudwater Lodge. It is a new and beautiful community. It is the first one we toured and it had everything we needed. It is very convenient for my mom to get to her nearby Dr. appointments. Most of the time the communication is pretty good with staff members when I have questions or concerns regarding my mom's care needs. The staff takes good care of her and her care needs. The food is well-balanced but mom has special dietary needs and they are working with me so that she can get the proper nutrition. At this time mom is not able to participate in activities, but there is a resident nearby that they have become friends due to a shared family member. I would recommend Stroudwater Lodge to friends and family.

The Enclave of Scarborough
4.1

The staff are all lovely and very friendly and supportive to my mom and to the family. They are approachable and quick to respond to needs or requests. My mom's room is always clean and her laundry is done promptly. The only issue my mom has is that she doesn't care for the food. They have alternative options, but she doesn't know or remember to ask for them.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a community that houses at least two seniors who are not related by marriage or by blood to the administrator. A nursing home community provides its inhabitants with 24-hour care by registered nurses. These caregivers offer care for those who are unable to properly care for themselves.

There are some services that may come at a cost to residents which can include specially prepared food, personal clothing, and personal comfort items. Many residents of nursing homes are individuals with behavioral difficulties, which can consist of a tendency to wander, resisting care, or verbal outbursts. Types of care services and amenities offered at nursing homes might include 24-hour emergency care, monitoring of medication, help with legal questions, and personal care (including dressing, bathing, and toilet assistance). Nursing homes are required to provide routine personal hygiene items, a professionallly directed program of activities, room and bed maintenance services, and medically-related social services to residents.
