I would definitely recommend Silver Glen Senior Living to others. The facility itself is great, the rooms are really nice, and everyone seems so nice and welcoming. Another great thing they have is they work with a company that provides Physical therapy, Speech and OT on the premises.. so we've been taking advantage of that with my mom. So convenient to have that in-house and not have to drive to appointments!
I am very content living at Heritage Woods. My apartment is very comfortable and convenient. The nurses and CNAs are very attentive and convenient. The food is good and I may also eat in my room if I so desire. There are activities every day. Also a small store 2 days a week.
Quality of care - the doctor that was chosen is a bit lax & not as organized as we would like. [name removed] has been helpful with dealing with the dr & keeping on top of meds & changes. We understand its a new facility & everyone needs to get their rhythm. The menu has been the same for months with a daily special offered. The server we have had is in need of appropriate training. Very inefficient & confused. Sweet girl though. Hopefully she will learn the ropes in the next few months. She is inexperienced & needs to work beside an experienced server. The first meal we ate with the parents was amazing. Delicious & professionally plated. A month or so later, not so much. Activities - they aren't participating. More expensive that the last residence they were in (independent living) and offers a slight bit more. Yes I would recommend this community to others- the base staff is friendly, attentive, helpful & kind. There is a high volume of camaraderie amongst the residents. They walk the halls in groups going to & from their activities smiling & chatting. They have a huge end to end table in the dining room that seats about 20+ people & they all sit together. Even the in-laws who are not that social.

Nursing homes, also called skilled nursing facilities, provide long-term care for seniors with significant physical or mental health conditions, and short-term care to people recovering from an injury or hospital stay. Nursing homes provide personal assistance and medical care from licensed professionals. Services in skilled nursing facilities often include:
A nursing home community provides lodging to two or more persons who have no personal relation to the administrator. A nursing home community offers its occupants around-the-clock care by on-site nurses. These nurses offer care for seniors who are unable to adequately take care of their needs due to the effects of aging.
Nursing homes can be a familiar and comfy living choice for individuals 65 years or older, however nursing homes will commonly admit individuals 55 and older which is unusual for other senior care types. A large number of inhabitants are single women with smaller social support groups, and almost fifty percent of nursing home residents are older than the age of 85. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to form or participate in resident groups, be treated with respect, to manage your money, and get proper privacy, property, and living arrangements. Some services come at an extra cost which can include cosmetic and grooming items, a private room, unless medically needed, and flowers and plants. A significant number of nursing home occupants are persons who require assistance with daily tasks such as walking, experience difficulty with hearing and vision, have a physical or mental disability, or have incontinence issues. Nursing homes are required to provide room and bed maintenance services, a professionallly directed program of activities, medically-related social services, and routine personal hygiene items to residents.
