We have had no complaints at all. They always send me pictures of her doing activities and they say she is very active. The staff are very good communication, they are always updating me and sending pictures of different things. I would recommend Courtyard Plaza and already have.

I live out of state, and it’s nice to know my dad is cared for and in a safe place. He really likes not having to cook and clean anymore and he enjoys the daily happy hours! The facility is beautiful and welcoming and the staff is very friendly.

Colonial at Fort Lauderdale in Lauderhill, FL

We chose this facility because i felt it was a homey place, it did not feel cold and institutionalized. My favorite part about this facility is the people there. The workers are very outgoing and will help in anyway they can. My mom has no complaints about the food, I have never eaten there before, but the coffee is very good. The first room my mom was in was small but nice, now the room she is in is much bigger and brighter. I would definitely recommend this facility.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a community that houses at least two individuals who have no familial ties to the administrator. A nursing home community offers its inhabitants around-the-clock care administered by registered nurses. These nurses offer health related services for people who cannot properly care for themselves due to their aging.

This type of community is a helpful and comfy living option for persons 65 years and above, however nursing homes will usually allow access to individuals 55 and older (a rarity in the world of senior care). Some services come at an extra cost which can include specially prepared food, personal reading materials, and cosmetic and grooming items. Often times seniors may choose life in a nursing home over another type of community due to a physical or mental condition that makes it difficult for them to accomplish the activities of daily living. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to participate in activities, have protections against involuntary transfer or discharge, have your representative notified about your care, and be free from discrimination. A large number of occupants tend to be bachelors or widows who have circles of support, and about fifty percent of nursing home residents are older than the age of 85. Nursing homes are required to provide room and bed maintenance services, nursing and related services, specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability), and a professionallly directed program of activities to residents.
