The community was very easy to work with and very accommodating. Very nice staff, knowledgeable. Communication was fine, meals were offered 3 meals a day, no special diet options, choices if you wanted something else.

The last few months the staff have been so wonderful - I hear there is a new House Manger and she is doing a great job. My spouse is getting great care and I would recommend them highly for any of my family.

I am writing up a follow-up to my previous review regarding my mother's care as an Alzheimer's resident at Comforts of Home in St Croix, WI. On my recent visit to see my mom I noticed a considerable improvement in the ability of the staff to care for her advanced Alzheimer's. The staff was so patient with her and mom kept calling them her sweeties as if they were her children. It was so beautiful to see and eased many of my concerns. I later talked to one of her aids to see how things were going and she commented that it was going much better and they were learning ways to help with mode swings. It was so good to hear as I did not want to have to move her to another facility. I really appreciate the staff's effort to find ways to help my mom through this disease. She seems so content with being there. Thanks!

Independent Living

An Independent Living Community permits residents the opportunity to continue to live an independent lifestyle while guaranteeing their basic needs have been met. Basic chores such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is provided, allowing residents an opportunity to use their time as they choose, free from daily responsibilities. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, surrounded by others of similar ages and interests. Typically consisting of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer homes with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies differ between communities, many residences allow pets as well. If residents decide they would like to utilize the services of private health care providers, they may always do so. There are a variety of benefits and expenditures to balance while choosing an independent living community. It is important to learn if these services are covered in the plan: cable TV, utilities, field trips, move-in fee, initial assessment fee, transportation, private phone, and Waiting list deposit. The amenities that pertain to independent living include fitness center & swimming pool, game/TV room, community activities, restaurant-style dining hall, beauty salon & barber shop, laundry service, healthcare center, and security guards.
