My husband and I are both residents. He was transferred to their medical unit. This is in the same building so I am able to visit him at any time. A safety feature for all residents is to wear a call button. I have pushed my button at 2am and whoever is working has responded quickly.

Front Royal, Virginia

Independent Living

Many seniors may be able to live without assistance, but the burden of home ownership might deter them from living an independent lifestyle. Independent Living Communities provide a good remedy. Basic chores such as meal preparation and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and social activities is maintained, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they choose, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and interests. Typically comprised of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer homes with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies vary between communities, a number of residences allow pets as well. If medical or nursing assistance is desired, residents may always enlist the services of private care providers. There are a variety of expenses and benefits to balance when selecting an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these services are included in the plan: internet access, utilities, parking, wellness program, cable TV, housekeeping, laundry, and move-in fee. The luxuries associated with independent living include fitness center & swimming pool, golf course, private rental hall, healthcare center, concierge services, beauty salon & barber shop, transportation, and community activities.
