The Bridges At Edinburg
5.0

I just can't say enough good things about Bridges. They have taken good care of my mom and they are on top of things. She had a fall before coming here and since coming here has been improving. They are located conveniently for our family and they are really just a great community from top to bottom. They are very accommodating and will allow you to stay after hours if it makes you feel more comfortable. I am very pleased with them and would recommend them to anyone.

Waterford Gardens on Griffin Parkway in Mission, TX
4.7

We were on a little bit of a time crunch but we found the garden area and outdoor area with Waterford Gardens to be a big plus for us. The rooms are a little on the smaller side and we have to wear a mask, but when we are outside we do not have to. The staff and chef have been able to keep our loved ones blood sugar at the correct level which we have not been able to do for years so for that the chef is very good. The activities are little iffy and everything is expensive these days but overall it is a good value.

Brook Ridge Retirement Community in Pharr, TX
5.0

We are very pleased with Brook Ridge. My Mom just loves it. She called it her forever home. I think the way they make all the residents feel welcome and seem to take personal interest in knowing them is a positive. When I visit, I am well treated and in a professional way. The residents seem to interact well with each other and with visitors. The staff greet their residents by name, and were always so friendly and kind. It's a lively place with plenty of activities, several events per week, plus outside exercises. The staff makes a big deal over holidays and personalizing birthdays.

Independent Living

For many seniors, cost of owning a home and the maintenance of daily tasks and chores might deter them from enjoying an otherwise independent lifestyle. Independent Living Communities provide a convenient remedy to this situation. Basic chores such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is provided, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they choose, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, surrounded by others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Residents’ quarters consist of a private living space with their own kitchen. The independence of apartment life is still enjoyed, offering an opportunity to socialize with guests and visitors in a private and personal setting. While policies differ between communities, many residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services may always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are a number of expenses and benefits to keep in mind while deciding on an independent living community. It is important to determine if these amenities are included in your plan: initial assessment fee, Waiting list deposit, laundry, field trips, housekeeping, utilities, wellness program, and transportation. The benefits that pertain to independent living include fitness center & swimming pool, restaurant-style dining hall, healthcare center, community activities, game/TV room, security guards, concierge services, and beauty salon & barber shop.
