We have had a great experience. And [name removed] from APFM was so very helpful!! The process went more quickly and smoothly than I expected. The food is fabulous. Beautiful dining area. Staff is available, accommodating, and super friendly.

Vitality Living Upland Park in Huntsville, AL
4.9

Great folks at Vitality Living Upland Park. There are some growing pains that the facility is going through right now, but things are getting better. I have a duplex. It is nice size for the money. You can't beat it. It is not in the main building. It is in the active 55+ cottage. Amenities offered to residents are good.

Rosewood Manor in Scottsboro, AL
5.0

They have an activity room with puzzles and things like that but then they also had entertainment come in as well it seemed like every day. For the price it is a very nice facility. Everyone knows each other and watches out for each other. Any residents who wanted to help with cooking or anything like that, they were encouraged to do that. It was like sharing a house. [name removed] the director is also a nurse. She was very easy to talk with and open. If any residents need medical care they had a doctor who would come every Friday so you did not have to leave the facility. It is a smaller facility with only 16 rooms so the care is more personalized. They do have a memory care facility next door that is attached by an outdoor fenced in area. There is not a lot of green space between the buildings, but they were supposed to be doing renovations this winter to update that so residents had more space to get outside. They have plenty of outdoor seating on the front porch for the residents. The majority of the facility is women, for a while our loved one was the only guy. I do know another guy has just moved in. I would definitely recommend Rosewood Manor to others.

Complete guide to independent living

Fayetteville, Tennessee

Independent Living

Many seniors may be able to live without assistance, but cost of owning a home might deter them from an independent life. Independent Living Communities offer a convenient remedy to this situation. Basic tasks such as meal preparation and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is provided, allowing residents an opportunity to use their time as they see fit, free from daily responsibilities. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Typically comprised of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer homes with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies differ between communities, many residences allow cats and dogs as well. If medical or nursing support is desired, residents may always enlist the services of private caregivers. There are a variety of costs and benefits to consider while deciding on an independent living community. It is important to learn if these services are included in your plan: cable TV, transportation, Waiting list deposit, utilities, laundry, wellness program, move-in fee, and housekeeping. The luxuries associated with independent living include fitness center & swimming pool, security guards, laundry service, golf course, restaurant-style dining hall, transportation, community activities, and healthcare center.
