The activities at Okakee are great. Their support for transportation is weak, and my mom feels it was not what she signed up for. They no longer have a shuttle. No plans to get one. Only 2 round trip rides provided a month. Without the shuttle, the residents need more options. Their "cost" for a resident to use their car service outside of the monthly allotment is highway robbery. It is a real opportunity for them. I know they are filling up, but they are falling very short on this area. It is a great place and my mom is very happy there--but that is the one issue people need to know (and I wish they would stop ignoring it). [name removed] is awesome and their activities coordinator is fantastic.
Staff is really hands on and gets to know the residents on a personal level, and always address concerns quickly when brought to their attention. The food has a lack of flavor, it is often over cooked or cold.
Things are going pretty good at this community. Dad seems to like the food and they they offer daily activities. The staff take good care of him and we have good communication with them. I would recommend this community.
