You could not find a nicer staff. The facility does need some updates, but for the money it can't beat. Apartment sizes here are more than adequate.

Brookdale Utica Assisted Living

My brother [name removed] was only at Brookdale for two weeks. He passed away last May. The two weeks at Brookdale were wonderful. They were amazing. It will be my choice for me when the time comes. They took care of my brother at nursing home level when he was there for assisted living. They cared for him so well! We were very grateful to the staff!

American House Sterling Woods Senior Living in Sterling Heights, MI

if you are looking for true Assisted Living at the price quoted, this isn't it. There are many charges for which people like us can't afford. They are too cheap to provide internet access and most of us baby boomers want it. This is what is called enhanced living. And as of August 1 they're going to charge us $50 for a check even if it's a cashiers check and 3.9% if you use a credit card. As of today you can't get food from the kitchen to take to your room. Typical large corporation. I would not recommend American House Sterling at this time.

Independent Living

For many seniors, the burden of home ownership and the upkeep of the property might deter them from living an independent life. Independent Living Communities provide a convenient alternative. Food preparation, recreational activities and housekeeping responsibilities are handled for you while you are able to use your time as you prefer. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and interests. Residents’ quarters consist of private living spaces, each with their own kitchen. The independence of apartment life is still enjoyed, offering an opportunity to socialize with guests and visitors in a private and personal setting. While policies differ between communities, many residences allow cats and dogs as well. If residents decide they would like to employ the services of independent health care providers, they always have the option. There are an assortment of expenditures and advantages to keep in mind while determining an independent living community. It is important to learn if these services are included in your care plan: initial assessment fee, transportation, Waiting list deposit, wellness program, cable TV, field trips, utilities, and laundry. The amenities associated with independent living include concierge services, private rental hall, community activities, transportation, beauty salon & barber shop, game/TV room, healthcare center, and golf course.
