Stroudwater Lodge in Westbrook, ME
4.0

So far it has been a great fit for my mom at the Stroudwater Lodge. It is a new and beautiful community. It is the first one we toured and it had everything we needed. It is very convenient for my mom to get to her nearby Dr. appointments. Most of the time the communication is pretty good with staff members when I have questions or concerns regarding my mom's care needs. The staff takes good care of her and her care needs. The food is well-balanced but mom has special dietary needs and they are working with me so that she can get the proper nutrition. At this time mom is not able to participate in activities, but there is a resident nearby that they have become friends due to a shared family member. I would recommend Stroudwater Lodge to friends and family.

The Enclave of Scarborough
4.1

The staff are all lovely and very friendly and supportive to my mom and to the family. They are approachable and quick to respond to needs or requests. My mom's room is always clean and her laundry is done promptly. The only issue my mom has is that she doesn't care for the food. They have alternative options, but she doesn't know or remember to ask for them.

Ashton Gardens Gracious Retirement Living in Portland, ME
5.0

I would definitely recommend this facility! The staff are so kind and engaging! Housekeeping and maintenance keep right on top of things! Housekeeping provides sheets and towels and they are changed each week. My father required some assistance with showering, laundry and medication and they were able to assist us in hiring someone to come in and help him. My family feels very relaxed knowing that he is safe and that all his of needs are being met!

Independent Living

For those who desire to live primarily without personal care assistance but wish for the advantage of having chores and housekeeping maintained by professionalls, an Independent Living Community may be the perfect choice. Basic chores such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is provided, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they choose, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and backgrounds. Residents’ quarters consist of a private living space with their own kitchen. The independence of apartment life is still enjoyed, offering an opportunity to entertain guests and visitors in a private and personal setting. While policies differ between communities, many residences allow cats and dogs as well. If residents decide they would like to utilize the services of private health care professionalls, they always have the option. There are a variety of benefits and expenses to consider when deciding on an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these amenities are covered in the plan: cable TV, transportation, housekeeping, laundry, internet access, initial assessment fee, Waiting list deposit, and meals.
