Viva Senior Living at Albany

This is a place I would recommend you check out for your loved one. The staff are wonderful and friendly to work with. The staff communication has been great with the family. There are three meals a day served to the residents, and it is a dining room. If the resident doesn't like what is being served the staff are willing to accommodate a request made by the resident.

The Phoenix at Lake Joy in Warner Robins, GA
3.4

Our loved one was previously a resident at The Phoenix at Lake Joy. The quality of care declined. If not for hospice, I don't know what we would have done. We ended up moving our loved one to another facility. I would not recommend The Phoenix at Lake Joy to others.

Summer's Landing of Warner Robins
4.3

My brother was in the Memory Care unit at Summer's Landing. Each resident has a private room which is quite spacious. My brother felt as though he had his own apartment. The staff is wonderful - very kind, caring and patient, exactly what you want for your loved one. The food is good - not institutional tasting. I highly recommend Summer's landing.

Complete guide to independent living

Americus, Georgia

Independent Living

For those who would like to live primarily without assistance but wish for the advantage of having their household chores maintained by professionalls, an Independent Living Community might be the perfect option. Basic needs such as meal preparation and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is maintained, allowing residents an opportunity to use their time as they choose, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and backgrounds. Typically consisting of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but with none of the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies differ between communities, many residences allow pets as well. If medical or nursing assistance is desired, residents may always enlist the services of independent caregivers. There are a number of expenses and benefits to balance while choosing an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these amenities are covered in your plan: internet access, initial assessment fee, cable TV, laundry, wellness program, move-in fee, transportation, and field trips. The conveniences that pertain to independent living include security guards, game/TV room, laundry service, restaurant-style dining hall, community activities, concierge services, private rental hall, and fitness center & swimming pool.
