This is a place I would recommend you check out for your loved one. The staff are wonderful and friendly to work with. The staff communication has been great with the family. There are three meals a day served to the residents, and it is a dining room. If the resident doesn't like what is being served the staff are willing to accommodate a request made by the resident.

The Phoenix at Albany tour was fairly decent not quite what we were expecting after reading into it. Overall though is a good candidate.

March 9, 2023Hi, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience. We are always open to hear how we can make the experience for our guest and residents better. We hope to see you soon!
We recently placed my sister in this facility, but overall we are satisfied with it so far. Upon admission they knew she would be needing physical therapy set up and they're on top of it and have that in the works. She is on the memory care unit and I haven't gotten a lot of feedback from her yet. But when I went to pick her up for an appointment the other day, she was sitting at a table with other residents and was smiling as they were talking. It was nice to see her out with others and content. The staff is very friendly. They seem to handle issues pretty quickly. They are very considerate of the residents and always seem very nice. The atmosphere is good and residents seem very content. I haven't had much experience with the meals, but they do give snacks which my sister enjoys. I would recommend this facility.

September 14, 2022Thank you for this wonderful feedback! We take pride in the care for our Residents and the customer services we provide not only to our Residents but to their families as well. We strive to address any concerns in a timely manner and truly have an open door policy and are always available to you. Welcome to our family!
All of the working class staff care about their jobs and genuinely care about my mother. I do not believe that the executive director has much of an education though she lied to me a couple of times- but luckily I do not have to deal with them much. They just hired a brand new RN and she seems quite nice and the caregiver I have going in has had all good things to say so far. We are overall pleased with expeinrece so far.

Our team strives to deliver an excellent experience, and are glad you found this to be the case during your visit. If you have further needs or questions, please reach out!
We chose The Phoenix because they were the first ones who responded and they were also in a convenient location. We did not really get clear expectations on what to expect, so I think they could do a better job with the whole orientation process. Overall I would recommend to others looking.

January 7, 2022Thank you so much for the feedback. We will make sure we do a better job of communicating.
I think the community is one of the best places here in Albany for your money. The food was always good for my loved one. Bingo, singing, puzzles, and more are some of the activities for the residents to participate in.

I do like the community. They have nice and giving people there. It does need some renovating such as the dining room and the residents room. The outside needs a paint update, as well. There is a new administrator who is trying to work on these updates. The food is ok, and my mother hasn't been happy with it. She says that the food when it is pureed, it doesn't taste the same. The administrator is working with my mom to get some variety of foods for her. The room sizes are adequate for what the residents need.

The staff here were very attentive. At the time, they had the best food ever, however they have heard the chef has changed. They are quick to clean the community and nothing is ever left for long. They were also very friendly with us and our mother. They did offer activities for the residents to participate in, like bingo. We did think the value for the price at The Phoenix At Albany was excellent.

A Place for Mom has scored Viva Senior Living at Albany 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
