The facility is clean and well maintained. The staff is great … caring, knowledgeable and supportive. The residents are friendly and fun … definitely people I enjoy spending time with. There are lots of activities here … always something going on. My apartment is quiet and comfortable when I need a quiet place to myself. Assisted living is available here, so I’ll still have a home surrounded by friends as I grow older and need more assistance with day to day living. Food is bad. Staff turnover causes food servers and housekeeping to miss often. I hope other places are better but I'm got nothing but stories to compare to. Not sure I can really expect any to be better.

The Sales mgr (at the time) sold me on this place. The amenities down to their friendliness. They came through 90% of their promises. 10% shy because the place wasn’t thoroughly cleaned as promised. As of cleaning, to this day, I think my brother hasn’t been on a regular cleaning .., he moved in 4 months ago. After a month I had to chase down my sales person to remind them of the cleaning service offered. The office personnel keeps changing… and because of that, I feel the residents are getting lost in the shuffle. That’s my opinion…. Wish your company had more choices of homes to choose from.

My loved one is currently a resident at Woodland Retirement and Assisted Living Community and everything has been great for her at this facility so far. The cleanliness and friendliness are great. The staff, meals and activities are also great. As for the value for cost, Woodland is far better for the cost compared to the places in Seattle that I have experience with. I would recommend Woodland Retirement and Assisted Living Community to others.

My loved one is currently a resident at Woodland Retirement and Assisted Living and overall things have been good for her at this facility so far. The friendliness is great! The staff, cleanliness and activities have been good. The care services, food and value for cost are okay. Communication with the family is not good, there is a lack of communication with the family. However, overall I would recommend Woodland Retirement and Assisted Living to others.

My loved one is getting the care he needs and my parent has plenty of opportunities to interact with the community without the worry of leaving my loved one alone. The care staff is great. Very responsive to my loved ones needs and quick to form a bond with them. The service staff is adequate. Every place is struggling to find and keep good service staff. Woodland seems to have at least a small core of good, dedicated service staff that makes up for the lack of numbers they really need. To me, the management team is the weakest link in the staff. We have struggled with communication with the management team and had a difficult time settling into a care plan and scheduling services. My family has expressed concerns about the lack of response to questions/concerns they have raised. I do not believe they have an individual management member that handles onboarding, following up with new residents to make sure everything is in place and that their needs and wants are getting addressed.

It was NOT a good experience. I could not get my mother out of there fast enough! Misinformation; NO follow-through on anything; inexperienced or inept maintenance workers tried 3 times to repair leak under bathroom sink, when hooked up washer and dryer tightened hoses with his hands so first time washer used sprayed water all over; mother was there 3 months, never got name tag for her door; was told Wi-Fi provided but never worked and no adjustment given just said room too far from equipment - not our problem; new chef and food terrible, many complaints from residents; halls not vacuumed regularly. Provided feedback to management who apologized but did nothing nor did they return calls! And worst of all on 2 occasions my mother was taken to hospital and there was no notification to me.

It is concerning to me this facility does not provide monitoring for falls for its independent residents. If you are in assisted living you can get it but if you are independent you cannot. Most rooms do not have landlines so alert systems are not an option. People have laid on the floor all night [name removed] was found deceased a day later. I would think it is required to have an option for all residents.

Based on our tour, I thought Woodland Retirement was fine. They just didn’t have the 2-bedroom 2-bathroom availability we were looking for.
I finally have a regular housekeeper and he does a great job, so I gave cleanliness a 5. As far as the facility cleanliness, I'd rate that at a 2. The staff really does try here, but the management is terrible. There is no communication within the staff. Communication with residents isn't good, either. For example, the other day I went to use the elevator and it was shut down. I use a walker and rely on the elevator, but it was off. I finally made it to the front desk to tell them. They said that they were aware, that it was shut down for yearly inspection that was happening sometime during that day. That was never communicated to the residents, we had no idea. They could have at least posted signs by the elevator doors to let us know. The food is horrible. It's not good quality, variety, or quantity. The menu seems to be made for a 14 year old boy. Full of junk and processed food. They serve pre-cooked, processed, reheated food. I don't eat it anymore, I make my own meals, But I still pay for it as 2 meals a day are part of the monthly cost, whether you eat them or not, it's not an optional cost. They try with the activities. We usually have one per month, maybe, and most of them are led by residents. We do have a new executive director, so we'll see. I feel so bad for the staff, they try so hard but there just isn't enough of them. You can only do so much with nothing. They're worked to death, get yelled at, and most end up just quitting and leaving. The monthly cost for what I'm actually getting here is outrageous. But I don't want to move. I make it work in Independent Living. My apartment itself is very nice and the pharmacy and gym are both within walking distance and I really like that. However, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. They talk a good talk, but don't deliver anything they promise. I'd say think very carefully and beyond the promises they make during the tour. Also, if you find yourself needing long term care you have to move to the Assisted Living side. That's one of the things I asked about prior to moving in and they weren't truthful with me about it at all.

They provide the care that is needed at a reasonable cost at this community in a very clever fashion. They have activities like book clubs, music, themed weeks like cruise ship week and more for the residents to do to stay busy and active in the community. They always have a huge list if you want to be active you can be very involved.

On our initial tour everybody was very friendly and we needed to get our loved one moved in fairly quickly and the staff members really bent over backwards for us. They just went above and beyond to accommodating our needs and get everything lined up.

This is a very nice community but it was more on the expensive side.
Overall they've done very well. It's a pretty good place, but they're totally understaffed, and their follow-up would be a 2 on a scale of 1-5. They have all the things you would expect, a hairdresser, housekeeping, and the place is kept pretty darn clean. The problem is they don't have enough people to get stuff done. So maintenance is starting to fall behind.
For someone who doesn't need a lot of care, it's a good place to be retired. But the more care that your loved one needs, the harder it is for them to provide the necessary services. They seem to be somewhat understaffed. They mean well, but they don't have the ability to take care of all the patients who have the highest needs in the way they would like to or in the way you would like them to. The staff is stretched pretty thin. My loved one had no real complaints about the food, and they offered a lot of activities. So for people without medical needs who are fairly independent, it's a good place to be. But the more care that your loved one needs, the less able they are to provide it.

The Food is the worst by far. It takes forever to get your food and it is never prepared as it should be. The activities are good and they have a wonderful activities director that knows the residents by name. With a new director in place, there are improvements.

My loved one had a lot of difficulty with the administration team. My loved one felt that they weren't getting what they needed from the community and administration. The staff all walked out on one shift. The community as a whole was short staffed. The food wasn't cared for by my loved one or by me.
