I would rate Windchime as 5 on questions - 1-6. Can't really grade them on value for money as it is expensive but not sure what others are charging. Staff are involved, caring and friendly. Very different from a prior facility my husband was at. It is a caring, small facility in woodsy setting. For my husband a big tower block would not have worked and the outdoor patios were a big plus.... Read more

What I like most is the staff's responsiveness to our requests and specific needs for my Mom. Each resident is cared for and loved in the way that works best for them. My mom is enjoying the activities, thanks to the new full time activity director at WindChime of Marin community.

I am so sorry I ever put my husband here. He went in their walking and died three weeks later. They kept me away from him for 10 days( that of course I will never get back) so he could “adjust”. On day 10, I ignored them and went. My husband is bruised and unable to walk. Laundry had not been done ( per contract) and he had a warm sweatshirt on a very hot day. His room was intolerably hot most of the time as the AC did not work. was constantly pulling all his clothes off because he was so hot. The staff, while generally kind, were pretty incompetent ( and pretty difficult to understand). I don’t think the employees have any real training as they did not seem to understand PRN and mixed up his meds on the last night of his life. Costs are supposed to be prorated on a daily basis and their outrageous community fee of $[XXXX amount removed] is supposed to be refundable on a sliding scale. Instead, I received a bill yesterday and a withdrawal from my bank account today for the next month. OUTRAGEOUS!

Response from Windchime of Marin
June 8, 2022Hello, Barbara. First, let me tell you how very sorry I am for the loss of your husband. Can you please call me so I can better understand your experience? I look forward to speaking with you and helping you find some resolution. Thank you, Roselynn Muzzy Regional Vice-President of Operations Integral Senior Living 707-307-3979
I have no complaints of how things are going for my loved one since he made the move into this community. The staff have been very helpful and I am comfortable with the care they have provided him. He has had no problems with the meals and enjoys participating in activities with the other residents from time to time. It is a clean property and I would defiantly recommend it to anyone interested.

The Windchime of Marin was not what we were looking for. My husband was actually the one who toured it but we decided on another community. We wanted something in another location closer to our home and fit my loved one's needs.

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. I thought this was a very nice looking place overall, and definitely somewhere I would consider for my loved one! The staff seemed friendly, and the facility itself was well kept and clean.

If you're considering this facility, the first thing you need to ask is how many employees have been working here for at least one year (answer: not many). Thanks to a dysfunctional management team, turnover here is very high. A few months ago, most of the caregivers walked out en masse. When Carol H. wrote her review, management panicked and pressured the staff to write bogus reviews to counter hers. (You can find them under reviews not recommended by Yelp.) Until management stops humiliating the staff, complaining about the owners and having intimate relationships with subordinates, the high turnover here is sure to continue.

Let me count the way that Windchimes disappointed us. Well I guess I won't but all I can say is please look beyond the lobby and the pr person as it is not what it seems. We were led to believe the residents are treated to a lovely experience including dining in the lovely dining room but on closer inspection and daily visits these dining experiences are few and far between. On the whole the caregivers, the ones on the ground floor doing the work, are quite kind and hardworking. However the management from the top down, are really rather unresponsive and callous. If I could only list all the problems we encountered, it would be quite hard to believe. I was shocked at the state I found my loved one and had to be so proactive for him that I ended up calling 911. I just cannot believe that this place, once a wonderful almost five star facility under previous management, has progressed to where it is now. I would look elsewhere when placing a dementia loved one. Perhaps if the loved one is highly functioning it wouldn't be quite as bad but someone needing that extra attention? This is not the place.

They do a pretty good job keeping it clean, I think they could do a little better on the rooms themselves. Sometimes it can be tough getting answers. They have had a complete change of staff over the last couple of months, they have all new management. I would like to see the laundry situation improved, there are some mix ups with the laundry.

A Place for Mom has scored Windchime of Marin 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
