Mom is having a very hard time adjusting to her move to memory care. I feel the facility could make several very simple changes to make her more comfortable. Most of the staff are kind and well intentioned but lack experience. I wonder about the effectiveness of the scheduling. Seems it would be better to be as consistent as possible with who & at what time of day residents see staff. But, the rotation of staff from area to area and shift to shift is significant. I’m sure it is common in memory care but I am very frustrated by how many things have been lost. On the positive side, the facility and grounds are very nice. I think the apartment style is better for her than cottage style.

Everything at Waterford is very nice but it is not a perfect match for my loved one. Everything is clean, orderly and well maintained. My loved one has little interest in eating and has lost weight from 106 lbs to 92lbs. She will eat in a social setting where someone will sit with her and talk. As she talks she tends to nibble at her food if gentle prompts and encouragement are given. Waterford Grand doesn't have enough staff available at meal times to give her this personal touch. As a result we are having to search for another memory care situation. Note: it is very expensive
I would say five on all except for maybe cost. But I know that's just the way things are. We disputed a bill and they gave us the money back for the first two months so that was nice. We would recommend this community to other families, but it is very very expensive!

It's a beautiful facility and they allowed my moms dog which was huge to her. We picked it because it wasn't a sterile environment. We didn't want her to think she was in an institution, but rather a nice apartment.

Yes I would recommend this place. That said, there no way we could afford it without Mom's longterm care insurance.Waterford Grand is built to bring the outdoors inside, with terrific vues of the river from many windows. Apartments are spaciou, the daily exercise program is terrific and the facility has a memory care unit for when/ if my mom needs it.

I toured this community and it was a beautiful facility. It feels more like a resort. Our tour guide was very nice and kind. It's several stories and has a pool and other extras. Nice clean atmosphere. However, it just felt too big and overwhelming for our loved one/memory care. For assisted living, it could be great!
We had a great tour experience with Waterford Grand. This facility was our second choice out of the ones that we looked into.
The staff at Waterford Grand are friendly. They are having some problems with staffing, but overall I think my loved one is really happy there.

Mom was the one who chose Waterford Grand because it is on the river and she gets to go out and walk along the river on a regular basis and she loves the setting. There was someone who helped her the first couple of weeks to help mom gets acclimated to the facility. We ended up hiring someone to spend some extra time with my mom during the week and that has worked out very well and it helps keep her as independent as possible. She says the food is great, she eats in the dining room 3 times a day and has made some friends which has been a huge plus. She absolutely loves that Monday through Friday a weight training class and she goes every single day, she never forgets it. Overall we would recommend them to others looking.

We went to look at units and they happen to have a large 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment and that was exactly what my dad was looking for. He is so happy with it and just loves it here, he moved out of his house and has not looked back. Right when we walked in we got a really good vibe and it had everything that we needed. We were looking for a place that had different levels of care in case his care increased and they have that here. It is so beautiful and all of the staff have been extremely friendly. It is truly like a cruise ship on land, that is how it feels. It is so pretty, the food is wonderful and there are things to do all day but you can also just hang back if you want to. There is nothing better than looking out from the dining room with your family around you having dinner and looking out at the Willamette river, it is super peaceful. Everything has been top notch and worth every penny. It has been a great match for my dad and we would absolutely recommend Waterford Grand to others.

I felt like because my loved one was more high functioning she wasn't paid as much attention to. Staff needs more training when it comes to memory care. Communication was not very good, and we had to initiate any communication. I would not recommend memory care to others.

Nice facility. The staff that led the tour were not intimately familiar with Covid protocols or current vaccination programs. Cost is ridiculous and I am a capitalist.

Waterford Grand Exceeded all my expectations. My father moved in 2 years ago and he loved living there. The staff was wonderful to my father and helpful with all his needs. This was very important to me because I live so far away. The facility is clean, safe, great food, scenic location, exercise room, pool, special events, entertainment, and most of all…. the staff is kind. I highly recommend this facility.

The Waterford Grand is a truly exceptional community. I have experienced first hand their commitment to their residents and the steps they take to make this a special place for their residents to call home. Thank you for the care you gave my husband’s grandmother and many others.

A Place for Mom has scored Waterford Grand 8.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
