It would have been nice when I was looking to know they were in the process to being bought out by another company. There have been a lot of changes. They have minimal staff, the chef walked out with his staff, the portions are not enough for the residents and they were not balanced meals. I make most of my loved ones meals and she eats them in her room. They cut staff hours so they are not fully staffed. The past week they have hired 2 new chefs and the food seems to be improving.

Our experience has been really good thus far. There has never been a lack of care, it is a smaller facility. I feel it is a really good value for the money comparatively. Their apartment has a really nice patio that they absolutely love to take their dog out on I think since it is a smaller community they get a lot of relaxed, one on one care. The staff are very attentive, friendly and are truly interested in my folks and the family. From the receptionist to the director -they have all been very personable and know me by name and I did not expect that. There is a bit of lack in activities, they could definitely provide more variety in what they do. Overall, I would recommend Mariposa Point of Surprise.

STAY AWAY!!!! My mother has lived here for 2.5 years. The decline in care has been steady since the arrival of [name removed] and [name removed]. We chose this place for my parents because it had a family atmosphere. Employees were treated like family and thus treated residents and family members like family. Now? It's nothing more that another company out to make a buck. The only reason my mother has been there for as long as she was is in part to consistency and routine being optimal for Alzheimer's/dementia patients. You can't have consistency when staff turnover is so high and they don't "know" their patients/residents.

Mariposa Point is very clean, and the help there is just adorable. They are so remarkable, they are always greeting me when I come to visit and they constantly keeping up with our loved ones health and we are just really really happy with them. Anytime our loved one is having a rough day they call us. Our loved one does not complain about the meals so we assume they are good and they are a lot of activities he joins in on. The value for cost is not to bad, it is a little bit less and they did not charge us the entrance fee so they are really willing to work with families.

We had a nice tour with Mariposa Point. The only reason we did not choose them was because we were not the biggest fans of the way that the rooms were set up here.
We spoke with [name removed] and he only showed us the studio room but we walked through the dining room to get there. The facility was very nice and we saw residents in the lobby as well as dining area. PT and OT are available through 3rd party.

Response from Vineyard Park of Surprise
May 27, 2021Thank you for the kind words!
The facility was beautiful, but the Memory Care was really no different from the independent living. During my tour, I scarcely saw staff or residents. I would have thought activities would have been going on.

Response from Vineyard Park of Surprise
May 27, 2021Thank you for the review! There's a good chance you toured during a slow part of the day, but you're always welcome to come back for a second visit. Feel free to give our concierge a call at [removed].
We chose Mariposa Point of Surprise because it was a newer facility, very clean, and everyone was friendly during our visit. Also, the room sizes were very large for what you are paying. The best part about this community is the convenience and the care that she receives. I would highly recommend it and already have.

The community was very nice, clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The one problem we had was with the manager of the care staff. My Mother needed a sample for her doctor and 3 times it was lost. When I called the care staff supervisor she argued with me about what had happened and was so unprofessional. She also lied to my mother about it. I work in a senior living community and was shocked by her attitude and argumentative behavior she had toward me when I called her trying to understand how this happened over and over again. Very unprofessional and she does not have the personality to be working in this profession. Another very upsetting incident. When my mother was moving out because of COVID I could not come in and help her. I could not get anyone to answer the front door and when my mother finally came to the door she had everything loaded on a cart and she was using a walker trying to push the heavy cart. A young male employee grabbed the cart from her which I though was very nice of him THEN he shoved the cart by the front desk looked at me waiting out the front door and walked off. So my poor mother is trying to get the cart to me trying to open the front door and pushing her walker and cart she was really struggling. I could not believe he could not at least push the cart to the front door for me to get and unload. My mother opened the door and I had to step in the door to get the cart as another employee walked by asking why I was in the building. Well, If the other employee would have been a decent person he would have done the right thing and helped my poor mother get the cart to the door. There definitely needs to be some more training on common courtesy and assistance for human beings, not only a resident.

Most of these reviews seem like disgruntled employees. I toured this community and found there to be very friendly staff who have been there for many years. Very clean and the nurse is outstanding. They employ multiple nurses including [name removed] the executive director who is a nurse. My mom likes the community and when the time is right, we plan to move her into this facility.

This facility started out very nice and well staffed and clean. Now, care givers can not provide adequate care because they are also waiters and waitresses and are assigned to clean rooms among other duties. Not providing the CARE as they should be doing. Additionally, meals take up to 45 Minutes to be served and tables are not cleaned and unused silverware left on the table. Have called Arizona Dept of Health because the place mats were never cleaned or wiped under. The Wifi and phone connections are consistently down and nothing seems to be done to resolve the problems. Outside landscaping plants are dead or dying. Surpass cooperate seems to be only in this for Money and not caring for those at their facilities. Site staff struggles with zero support form Cooperate only excuses or no reply at all. This company needs to change there approach and all of the clients at their facilities need to stand up and be heard.

Very disappointed in the staff and treatment we received at this location. Felt like we had been treated wrongly, more like a bait and switch or car dealer then an assisted living community. Told one thing on the phone , then told something different upon our arrival.
