Has had big turnover of management in the last 2 years. My MIL doesn't seem to like any of the food. I have eaten there a couple times and the food is ok, but nothing really to rave about. The community as a whole is good. All one facility so no going to different buildings as in other facilities.... Read more

It’s good a really nice place. Their activities are really good - they have a lot of things to do. The community is clean and the staff is friendly. We were satisfied with the cost for what we got.

They were very clean. The food could have been better, the food can always be better at these places. Other than that I can't think of anything that really needs to be improved. I thought their public relations were good.

Fantastic Visit! Awesome facility! A lot of open areas, great lighting in common areas. Most of the people we past during the tour were known by my guide and she spoke to them by name. I was very impressed by that. Shows she actually took time with residents. Love the patios, walking trail, etc. With mothers current low house payment & utilities I was disappointed to realize she might be better staying where she is. At this point it would best in a lot of ways to my disappointment. This facility would be much more convenient for us to check on her as it is closer than her home is now. Loved the activities, transportation, etc. The one bedroom on the back side facing the wooded area would be perfect.

The activities here are excellent! However, I have heard some of the residents say that the food could be changed in some ways. It's hard to please everyone, but there are times when they have simple sandwiches when they should have had a meal. Also, it could just be the way they prepare it. It's probably easier to bake chicken than it is to fry it, but some people prefer fried chicken. Overall though, we like it. When we were searching, we kept coming back to this one. The room worked for my loved one, and it's just a great value all the way around!

Great place and wonderful people. A larger facility with lots of room and many gathering places for socializing.

It was a multi-level building, and to me it was not in as great of a location as were we picked. It was well decorated and well organized.

I have been doing very well here, it's been five month. The people are very nice, and it's very friendly atmosphere. I have my own apartment, and the building is very nice. The food is very good most of the time. They have activities all the time; they have shopping, they have a singing group, and different local choirs come in to perform. I am in independent living, but there are care services available to those that need them. Transportation is included.

This is independent living. They had lots of activities! I live in California, so I was only there for a week while my mom lived there. Sometimes if the regular chef is not there, dinners and lunches were not great, and I think that the meals are something that the residents really look forward to so they are extremely important. Other than that, nothing else to improve on! I loved University Pines because of the other residents. They took my mom in immediately. Everybody just welcomed her and showed her around and showed her how to get around on the van to go shopping. Real sense of community there. I can't say enough good things about it. My mom passed away in the beginning of October, and the residents reached out to me and my family, came to the funeral, and sent flowers even after knowing her for such a short time. The first time I walked into University Pines, I knew immediately that it was the right place for her.

A Place for Mom has scored University Pines by Sky Active Living 9.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
