Number one on my list is the $50 monthly "extra person" fee, which we were assured (prior to our move-in) was something that they would never charge because it went against their ethos. There it is, at the bottom of the very first bill. Then we have the "humane" and deeply contemplated process of changing the status of a resident from independent to assisted living. Although The Timbers has no change easily incorporated into its apartments' set up, it does have, we were told, a sister building practically next door. I can't verify this, but I can tell you that we ran into (had dinner with) a female resident who clearly felt she was being tossed out in her ear the next day for evidencing signs of mental confusion and she was none too happy. In addition, although it states in its literature that there is staff available 24/7 to evidence people coming and going and to attend to any routine maintenance problems, this simply does not seem to be the case. We very seldom see staff around here on weekends and holidays. Moreover, I suspect that their iron-clad "two cat policy" is being violated by a "have a few kitties policy" enjoyed by favored friends and/or family members. I can't verify this, so maybe it's an urban legend. One that floats through these buildings down the ages! Nevertheless, I find this pet policy extremely annoying and rigid. Being served dinner at 4:30 pm is also a pain in the butt. Who, except for hospital patients, eats supper so soon after lunch? And a speedy affair it is! Appetizer, main course and dessert (all yummy, thank God) are delivered to those who show up in less than half an hour in disposable dinnerware, the coffee is poured, and the tables cleared and by 5:30 when the normal residents show up to collect their bagged version of the same meal, you would never guess anyone had ever been there. This particular item started out as criticism and ended up being applause for the Chef's ingenuity and ability to cut costs. I could go on. I think the rent charged here is exorbitant. Some of the utilities are too bright and too loud. We've been since before Christmas and our ambivalence keeps the second bedroom full of unpacked boxes.

I'd rate the friendliness a 10 if I could, they're so great and so friendly here! The residents and the staff. When we toured, several residents approached dad and asked him if he was going to move in here and told him how much they like it and that it's a great place to live. That was very helpful, as dad was hesitant to move into a community and was just unsure about the whole idea when we started. But he loved the energy here from the very beginning and after the tour he told me he wanted to move here. He loves it! He used to be a couch potato and not very active. Since he's been here, he's active and involved in things all the time. He's actually motivated to be active and interactive. It's great to see! I can't rate the Meals and Dining as we have no experience with it. Dad is very independent and likes to cook his own meals, I don't know if he's even tried the food. But that's just due to him wanting to cook for himself/being independent and has nothing to do with the facility or anything on their part. The staff really is wonderful, they know dad by name and genuinely care about him and take the time to talk to and visit with him. Communication with the family is absolutely phenomenal. Especially during a recent incident. He had a fall (no fault of the facility) and they had to call an ambulance. They handled it very well with him and were very communicative with me through the whole thing. Often when I visit, the staff asks how I'm doing, how things are going, and if I know of anything dad needs that he maybe hasn't mentioned to them. They're just so genuine. They have a good variety of activities and outings. They always have fun things going on and it's a wonderfully diverse group of residents and staff here. I've just been impressed with the entire facility, from the management to maintenance and everything in between. They're just so friendly and kind. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family. I would live here myself if I could!

I think it is a fine place to move into. The only complaint is my loved one said it feels like a bait and switch. They promised a lot of things in the beginning that they are not and have not followed through with. It is a very quiet community, whenever I am there I do not see anyone in the office and it is usually closed.

The Timbers was very pleasant, and I thought they had nice social spaces . The director of marketing was very pleasant and helpful. As we got farther along in our touring process, we realized our loved one really needed assisted living, which they didn't offer here. So that was our reason for eliminating them from consideration.
The friendliness of the staff members are very good, The activities are very limited because of whats allowed at this time but they do try their best. They have done things like passing out candy for special occasions and they have something planned for Valentines day.

Every since my mother moved into this community, my favorite words to hear are " I'm busy, bye" because I know she is enjoying herself! She loves the jigsaw puzzles, the social activities, outings and coffee in the mornings. The meals are fabulous, the apartment she is in is small but perfect for her. The place is always clean and fresh, very welcoming. They really pay attention to detail. When we went for our tour, the residents would come up to us and tell us how happy they are.

The Timbers has wonderful staff that communicate very well with families and its residents. At the moment my friend feels that the meals are good but the portions are very small. He has used the communities shuttle services, but has not engaged in other activities at the moment. I would recommend this community to friends and family they have attentive staff and great services.

A Place for Mom has scored The Timbers 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
