My mother moved in late May 2024. She is fully transitioned from her house of 45 years to THE RIVERS. The staff, the grounds, the food, maintenance people are all wonderful. The only hiccup was (is) Century Link for a land line. After numerous calls and missed appointments, she has decided to stay with her cell phone.... Read more

Nursing staff needs more training, starting with director of nursing! They need more nursing staff that speak better English! Call lights dont get answered in a timely manner! There could be a real emergency and they wouldn't get there in time.

The experience is great, my mom loves her new home. The facility is very clean. The staff and residents are very friendly and have welcomed my mom with open arms. Although my mom is independent and does not require extra care, the MD and NP have responded quickly with any concerns I've had. She is very happy with the food. My mom enjoyed an outing they had to a museum, and enjoys chapel. Most of the daily activities (bingo and other games) do not interest her. The cost seems to be about the same as other places I toured. I think the Rivers is a wonderful facility, very well run. The staff are friendly and helpful. The apartments are larger than most places and are very nice. The grounds are beautiful! We take walks outside regularly.

I liked the community, it has a lot of outside area compared to newer places that don't have any where to walk outside. It's a great place.

Mom is doing really well here. They have done a great job of taking care of her. I would tell others that the staff are very accommodating to any additions that you may want or need when moving in. The apartments are really big, she has got tons of space for her things. We would highly recommend The Rivers.
So far things are going well. They've been easy to work with, and the transition went very smoothly. The employees at the top are reachable, and you can get to them for questions all the time. They did reach out in the first month to make sure things were going well and we had everything we needed. I also really liked that in that first week she was there, the head nurse, the doctor, everybody came in to introduce themselves to her. It's a very clean facility. Everything is spotless when I go in. She really liked the food when she first moved in, but they got a new chef that she's less excited about. They seem to have a good variety of activities, and they're doing outings and things. She's been happy with the activities. I think all of these types of places are too expensive, but overall they're providing the things they promised initially.

We really like it here. I feel like they are very caring and attentive. I feel comfortable with my loved one being in their care. Overall it's been clean. We had an issue with a leak that resulted in some mold on the wall, but they've repaired it and taken the appropriate steps. They recently just changed the food, and it's much better now. Activities are great as well.

I appreciate the extra efforts and personal touch of Community Relations Director (name removed). Only two other places I visited had a comparable "non-institutional" feel, and they were both more expensive. Staff is delightful and invested in the well being of residents. Residents are extremely social and welcoming. Mom has a fabulous apartment and I am jealous!

We liked them from the start, and they had a great video virtual tour. It was low-fi and wasn't staged at all. It was jus someone walking around with an iPhone. But the overall impression was quite charming. What really made the video was that it started off at the apartment door being opened from the inside with the marketing person saying "Well hello, come on in." And that's been how we've experienced The Rivers, very welcoming from the start. The marketing person did a great job with follow-up and made it really easy for us, letting us know the next small step to take each step of the way. The facility is lovely and very pleasant. There are lots of little conversation areas around the building, and the residents seem to use them. The residents on the whole are extremely friendly. Every time I'm there, they're greeting me. The staff is lovely. They got to know my name and who I was immediately. They're cheerful to interact with and love my mom - and make a point of telling me so. My loved one thinks they're grand, which is the most important thing. She loves the food as well, and is buddies with the chef. There seem to be activities to do, but there could be room for more. Aside from having a space that's physically and aesthetically pleasing to be in, the staff are incredibly personable. Anybody who directly interacts with the residents on a regular basis, seems to be very warm and personable. The cleaning staff are the only ones I've encountered who aren't quite as outgoing, but they've been friendly as well. My loved one is delighted to be living here, and that makes me delighted as well.

We would recommend this community to others for their loved ones. The people we have spoken to all have been responsive to our questions or concerns about our loved one. There has been some staff turnover. This is an older community.

We chose The Rivers because of the availability at the time. The room sizes at the facility are adequate for an assisted living place. The meals here are off a menu that residents are able to choose from. I would probably recommend for others who are looking.

It is a safe place for my mom. The room sizes are pretty good and the layout of the community is good. My mom does not care for the food. They have nice outdoor space for the residents with a pond. They are currently remodeling the inside common areas.

They cleaned my mom's apartment weekly and changed her bedding. They brought her food in the evening. They had activities but she chose not to participate in many. They had opportunity to have a church service by video. They had an outbreak of the norovirus and due to the chef leaving, they had assistant caregivers preparing and serving the food who weren't trained to it. I feel that cleanliness around food was an issue which I think is why the virus continued to stick around there. The was a lot of staff turnover. The business office has stability issues and I would get billed several times for the same month.

Terrible place. Filed 2 claims with mn department of health. Be careful Management and nursing staff terrible as well as food. No consistent staff or management. Would never recommend anyone's love one to be there. Didn't give my family member correct medication for weeks and ordered hundreds of dollars of meds that they didn't administer. Moved my love one into a wonderful new facility and they were shocked with the over ordering and lack of administration of medication My family member endeded up in hospital because of lack of meds. So sad ....beware

Never in my life have we met a more delightful young lady than [name removed], Director of Nursing. She made our mom feel that she was the most important person ever. She assured my brother and I to "trust" the team. We believe her. She is spirited and plans to lead the nursing staff to become great caregivers. The staff have assured us that she will be the best thing that will happen to the Rivers. The marketing team are sweet, but try hard to sell. They don't really want to answer questions about all the transition. In speaking to several tables of residents, they all are happy that they have a new nurse. We're excited, but cautious about our decision. We'll see. Mom's apartment is nice, but the community is old, dirty in appearance, and outdated. Our only hope, is mom gets great care. We hope [name removed] will lead the team to greatness. We love her!

[Name removed] was great. Very laided back. This place has only 1 bedroom units available as well. Big place but the rooms are smaller then the other two places. My parents will have to decide if they ever have a 32 bedroom available.

A Place for Mom has scored The Rivers 7.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
