I would 100% recommend this community.

There are a couple of things we like about The Rose of Council Bluffs. 1. The location. At first it appears to be somewhat secluded but it makes for a very quiet/peaceful neighborhood environment. There are convenient shops and restaurants relatively close and almost all of them deliver to include groceries like Hy-Vee 2. The independence/freedom to come and go. I really had no idea what to expect but now that my dad has moved in, he is able to come and go as he pleases. Additionally, the apartment space is fantastic. Easy to navigate and is very spacious... Has some room for improvements

It was a rocky start. Bad start over medicated low oxygen, dehydrated, hadn't been eating, and several falls last one almost killed me in hospital and rehab 25 days. I had to go to rehab to learn how to walk again wasn't real happy the way things were going I did recover, but I never got the full use of my legs back. I now use a walker where I didn't when I first came here. It's better now, but it doesn't feel like home.

The good, the bad, and the somewhat ugly

Some meals are okay, some are pretty mediocre. Overall the cleanliness of the building is good, but the laundry rooms are kind of trashed. The nursing staff and maintenance guy are wonderful. Administrator is pretty good, I think she is getting more comfortable in her job and that helps pretty much. I do realize this is an assisted living and expect to pay for the extras, but the rent alone is pretty high I think.

Highly recommend

The Rose of Council Bluffs is a very nice, spacious and well laid out community. The administrator has been wonderful to work with so far. At the moment we do not believe our loved one is taking advantage of the activities but we do know they have a lot to offer. We would recommend this community to others families searching for their loved ones.

A Place for Mom has scored The Rose of Council Bluffs 7.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
