This facility has too much behind the scenes chaos. Laundry service is an absolute nightmare. My daddy's closet was routinely replenished with other resident's clothing. What was put away in drawers was balled up & crammed in the drawers & socks lost & mismatched with other resident's socks. My daddy was routinely restrained in his wheel chair behind the table in the activity room and china cabinet. My daddy was not changed regularly & was NEVER turned him at night & NEVER repositioned in his wheelchair. Within 2 months my father had a pressure wound that went septic. That wound (gaping, puss-filled, rotting sore took my father's life. I wouldn't recommend The Pearl to ANYONE- EVER! It is beautiful facility, aestetically. The food was good. The caretakers are severely underpaid. And I do not think they are trained to work on this level of care.

June 6, 2024We are very happy we could provide you & your husband with a positive experience. Thank you for leaving us this response!
I would recommend this facility -all staff are friendly and helpful. The move in process was as good as could be expected under circumstances-clean facility -housekeeping comes at least twice a week, or as often as needed. The entertainment is great. One thing that is better to me and brings me comfort is that they have nurses on staff over night, some facilities do not.

Response from The Pearl at Jamestown
March 12, 2024Hello Tammy, thank you; we appreciate your feedback!
My mom is a resident at this facility. Any incident that will occur (fall, diarrhea, upset, etc), I am called immediately. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I asked the maintenance worker if her shade could be replaced since it would never roll up and it was done within a couple of days. Her room is always clean, clothes are washed and put up, there's never any dust or trash within her room. The Pearl sends out emails to families about events. Also, they are part of the 'LifeLoop' website which lets me know weekly how many activities and which activities my mom participated in. Also families are informed of events through their site (it's duplicate info, but I'm glad I get them). They also have monthly calendars that can be downloaded from the LL site. The food is very good. When I see her is usually before a meal and it looks like a balanced diet. The residents enjoy eating it. When I have asked for a plate, the food is enjoyable. My only complaint right now is the amount of turnover of RCA and nurses lately, which has caused a few issues with the care of my mom. I would recommend this facility, especially for Memory Care residents. The facility is a square with a courtyard in the middle. So when a resident leaves their room it doesn't matter which way they walk, they will get to the dining room, activity room. They do memory skills, play musical instruments (which they really enjoy), have dance parties. They do have activities specifically for Dementia and Alzheimer's patients.

April 18, 2023Hi Susan, we are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience! We're glad to hear we delivered such a great experience. If there's anything further we can do for you, we are happy to help! Michelle Scott, Executive Director
This whole experience has been difficult for a couple married for 60 years. I was told it would take my husband two months to adjust to his new environment. They put no restrictions on me and I have visited almost everyday. The community has done a great job of making him feel comfortable and well liked. He is happy and enjoys the other residents. They are still having a problem with getting him to shower, and so did I, but they sponge bath when they can. I know this is a problem at most places, as I have friends to compare notes with. The staff is so friendly and respectful of family members.

April 18, 2023Karen, thank you for your kind review; we are happy to pass along your comments to the team here at The Pearl at Jamestown! If you ever need anything else from us, please feel free to give us a call or stop by. Have an awesome day!
They are great. My loved one seems to really like the food. They offer a lot activites. We picked this community because, of the proximity to my house, and the layout has a nice big courtyard, in which the residents can go outside. They offer a weekely support group for families. It's a nice community, which is smaller. I would recommend to other families.

Overall it was a satisfactory experience. The staff were great to work with and they communicative with the family's questions. Some of the activities offered included: crafts, entertainment, and more for the residents to participate in. Some of the care provided by the community included: medication management, dressing, and bathing assistance.

November 1, 2022Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We hope you have a great day!
We had a great tour experience with The Pearl at Jamestown. They were really in tune to memory care residents. The rooms were on the smaller side. For anyone who has a loved one with Alzheimer's/dementia, this looked like a perfect place. The location was very convenient to us as well so we would have been happy if this was the one she had chosen as well.

June 22, 2022Thank you for your kind review; we are happy to pass along your comments to the team here at The Pearl at Jamestown!
This community was above what my loved one needed and not an apartment but more of a hospital like room. My loved one was not quite at that level of care. I liked what I saw and I liked the philosophy of the tour guide.

The community is clean and from our understanding the activities are still pretty limited. We did have a small issues with the communication, there was just an overall lack of it with the staff team and them giving updates regarding our loved one

April 30, 2021Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please know that we always strive to do better as an organization, and this is something we will look into.
Mom has been a resident for 4 months and is pleased with the facility, the staff and activities. With memory care being the primary focus, we as a family are more than pleased with her level of care and attention she receives on a daily basis. Respect, kindness, patience, loving, friendly are just a few of the adjectives that come to mind when I think of the staff at The Pearl at Jamestown. Our family highly recommends this facility for memory impaired individuals. Daily activities planned in advance are aimed at exercising cognitive skills and helps residents engage and participate at their own level. What a gem!

Outstanding facility for memory challenged residents. Staff is friendly, gentle, kind and respectful of the residents and always ready to lend a helping hand. Daily routine and activities are well planned and executed. Facility and grounds are always well maintained, clean and comfortable. The Pearl at Jamestown is a Family blessing. When someone in your family suffers with a disease like Dementia and your world is turned upside down, it's great to find a place with a group of caring people.. The immense challenges become overwhelming, and it's good to get support from a team that shares your concerns. It's hard handling the issues from the disease and choices are limited. The Pearl offers a special staff, a small facility, activities all day, most days, spiritual and emotional support, tasty meal plans, a privity room, key security just to name a few.. The staff members from the Pearl have been a gem, given guidance, most easy to talk with and supporting Mom's progress to settle in.

I can not make enough positive comments about the Pearl. After first walking inside, I felt as though I was in an upscale hotel. The place was clean, homey, and smelled wonderful. There was an electric wall fireplace that was very inviting. I was immediately impressed with the staff. They were professional and helpful with all of my concerns and questions. The residents were all dressed, hair brushed, and clean looking. It has been about 1 month since mom moved in, and I am still very impressed. The staff is great. The food is balanced and tastes surprisingly good. I have had lunch with her twice. There is an outdoor courtyard with tables and rocking chairs. A lot of residents enjoy this area, including my mom. There are always activities going on. They play bingo, card games, etc.. At Halloween, they had a candy scavenger hunt. The Pearl is definitely worth a visit!!

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the entire staff at this community. They keep the community and her room clean. The food is very flavorful and I would eat here over a restaurant. They offer a variety of activities and have volunteers come in as well. I would recommend this community.

It's awesome and it's so nice that we got a place that takes care of people with Dementia and Alzheimer. I couldn't be happier, they are doing a wonderful job. It is a brand new facility and small, the maximum capacity is 50 residents. It's more like a home setting versus a nursing home. The biggest selling point, they don't make them get up early and will fix breakfast when they wake up. Mom is just so much happier. They have a courtyard to go when she wants and she is still confined. Security is awesome with a scanner and sign in log.
