I just wish the management had better open communication with families. Overall, it was an ok place except that there is little to no communication with the staff, no one returns phone calls, and no one let's you know what's happening with your loved one. They need patient advocates to speak to family members. My loved one passed, and had we not gotten a private call from one staff member, we would not even have had the opportunity to see her before she passed. The facility never called.... Read more

The Palmerton was horrible. They were understaffed and I took my mom out of there after three weeks and 4 days. The last fall she had they didn't even tell me about it. Her whole left side from hip to toes was purple. Her foot was swollen like an elephants trunk. When I asked what happened and why no one saw her bruising/swelling, the whole staff all the way up to the director and head nurse said they didn't know. HORRIBLE. I would tell others - Absolutely do not send their loved one there. The memory care is awful. They don't do anything with them as far as activities. They say they do but I visited often. All they did was have a so-called activities person bring down coloring sheets and markers. VERY SAD. They are a do not assist feeding facility.
Response from The Palmerton
September 9, 2024I'm Katie, Inspirit's Director of Marketing. First, I'm extremely sorry to hear about your negative experience at The Palmerton. What you outlined does not meet Inspirit's standard. I've shared your feedback with the communtiy's Regional Director of Operations for additional review.
The Palmerton community is very nice and welcoming for seniors that can get around well. However for higher level of care such as level E that my father had, I would not recommend it there. This is due to lack of responsiveness and follow thru of nursing staff.

The Palmerton is better than most homes but overpriced for the level of personal service/individual attention.

We feel very safe and comfortable that our parents our here. Cost much lower for the same services. We also had a family member here 10 years ago. We were confident about their services then and feel even more positively now.

Our family had an in person tour with The Palmerton and overall we had a nice tour experience, the community was nice but we were just not overly crazy about the rooms available.
The food is good. & The staff Is friendly. Many cool, fun activities to do. A Home like atmosphere. A good option for ur loved ones. Most residents adapte quickly. I love the relationships that I have aspired with some of the residents.

We had a few deciding factors when it came down to choosing The Palmerton and right off that bat the neatness and cleanliness of the community stood out to us. The staff from the day to day workers to middle management are all friendly. The location was also a big part with it being in our loved ones hometown. Based on the experience we have had with The Palmerton we would recommend it to other families.

We are happy our loved one is here, we feel that she is getting really good care. The meals from what we have seen seem to be very good and they are trying their best with the activities while still keep their residents safe.

The whole staff overall was great. They were friendly to both my loved ones and us. Communication between the staff and our family was good but during covid there were some struggles. I would recommend this community to others

My husbands sister chose The Palmerton because of the location. The room sizes here are very good, she is in a single and it is very large. We ate here last year for Thanksgiving and the food was great. They make everything from scratch and it is very fresh meals. I would want others to know that they have been extremely helpful, she turned 100 this August and they organized a party for her inside the facility among the residents since we could not go in, and they also let us do a drive by party. The staff members have gone above and beyond in a lot of ways. I would recommend.

I really like it here. Think this is a good fit for my Dad. Clean, staff was seen and polite. Like that dad will start in primary care then if need be, go into memory care which is right on the premise. Thank you [name removed].

This is a nice community. The staff is very nice and always attentive to her needs. The meals are good and she seems to like them very much. They have a lot of nice activities, live music is nice for her to enjoy. It is a very close location to my home so that I can visit often. I recommend the care and the value to other families.

I toured the facility. My wife needed a secured dementia unit. The Memory care unit is suppose to be new. It is not. The dining room is in the middle of the unit. There is no separate activity area, The marketer seemed to not know what she was doing. She had no clue what to charge me. She kept calling someone at another place for costs. The office manager kept rolling her eyes and slamming things around. I was told that is my wife moved in I could not visit her for up to two weeks. Why would I do that. Needless to say I decided the place was not suitable for my wife.

A Place for Mom has scored The Palmerton 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
