Yes, staff goes out of their way to be helpful. As a family member they allow me to be able to know Mom is cared for 24/7 when I'm not with her which gives me the freedom to do the things I still need to do. I also love how I can come and go to assist with her needs. In fact there are times when Mom misplaces her phone and I know I can call the staff or they call me. It's just so helpful. Everyone is so pleasant that it feels like a second home. They have allowed me to grow a small garden outside her window which means a lot to her since gardening was so much a part of her life. I truly feel we have been able to mimic her home in smaller but ample footprint. I think the activities they provide are awesome both inside and out of the residence.... Read more

Some activities they have for the residents are exercise classes, card games, and bingo. They have movie night, and wine tastings. The food could use some improvements, right now the residents are getting boxed meals due to COVID. This community is clean, a very well maintained environment. The rooms sizes are about average.

We chose this community because of the location. My favorite part about the community is the friendly staff. The food portion, quality, and the way it is served was not very good. There was also a lack of variety. The room sizes are good. I would recommend this facility to a friend or family member.

We thought the community was extremely clean and the activities were well organized. They had outings for the residents like off-community lunches and we thought they were very well done. The staff were all very friendly and the meals were great. We had absolutely no complaints about our experience with The Orchards At Southington. They had many locations where people could sit and read and play games, get together with friends, and have space to be social within the community. Overall, very pleasant.

The move in for my mother-in-law is going well. There has been no complaints from us. She likes the meals and trying some of the activities and getting a chance to meet the people. The staff are keeping me updated with any changes and who she is doing.

The residents were out and being active when we went on our tour. Everyone seemed happy and pleasant. The staff was great and they were very helpful and knowledgeable about the community. The only reason why we did not pick here is because my loved one is hard of seeing and there hallways were to narrow.

The Orchards is a great place. The staff has been wonderful to my mother very helpful and friendly. [Removed] the Retirement Counselor has gone way beyond to get my mother comfortable and make it feel like home. I would definitely recommend the Orchards to others.

Odor throughout the facility. Cobwebs in corners carpets with soil throughout facility. Felt very sterile and cold. Staff were not warm or friendly. Apartments are very small . Upkeep of facility is lacking attention to detail. Staff were not visible appeared to be hiding.

My husbands grandparents moved here and it's been wonderful! Price-wise for what they offer it's great. It's very, very clean and has been wonderful! Everyone was very welcoming. It was a bit of a transition for them and for the first three days they checked in on them a lot and provided free lunch for us so we could be there with them for a while the first day, they were very accommodating. The food is very good and we have eaten with them a few times. They seem to have a lot of activities, his grandmother was very isolated and now is going on outings to walmart and the excersice class. They are very independent but it's nice to have the option for more care available if they need it, and it was nice that they were able to accept the veterans benefits.

Dad has a standard studio there. It's the smallest room you can get and everything is extra - cable TV is extra. There are a lot of things that I think should probably be included considering the cost of rent. Meals are included and dad says the meals are great. They seem to offer quite a few activities. My dad has been kind of stuck in his room and not been able to participate in them but it seems like there is quite a bit offered. The Orchards was in a good location for our family and their community fee was significantly lower than some other places so that's another reason we chose them.

Beautiful facility, great tour with Recreation Director. Was shown a 1 BR Deluxe which was very nice. Prices were a little higher in this particular assisted/independent living facility.

A Place for Mom has scored The Orchards At Southington 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
