I recently spent 3 weeks at The Meadows while recovering from a fractured hip and hip replacement surgery. I recommend this place very highly. There was one aide who worked the night shift who consistently made me feel uncomfortable. However, he was the single exception. Everyone else - doctors, nurses (especially Emily and Morgan), physical therapists (especially Lisa and Peggy), occupational therapists (especially Sandy and Julia), social workers, and administrative staff - were very helpful, caring, and professional. The food - other than breakfast - wasn't great, and so I lost 5 pounds while there. But if I ever again need a rehab facility, I hope The Meadows will have a bed available.... Read more

Independent living at Shannondell was the perfect place for my mom. So, when she needed a bit more care, transitioning her over to Assisted Living only made sense. Little did we know it would be a completely different experience (we were warned). First off, let me commend the nurses and caregivers who, despite management, do their best to care for their patients. However, they are overworked and understaffed ALWAYS. The management of this facility is completely different than independent living and they are clearly more concerned about profit and their reputation than they are about the patients living there. And the residents pay A LOT of money to live there. The facility should be top-notch and on the surface, it is. It's well-maintained and they do a great sales job getting you in there. But, once moved in, you are a number to the management team. Residents are bored/isolated and family members are not included at all. Activities are very limited. For the money, go elsewhere!

Horrible! I will NEVER come here again! Not allowed to leave room due to Covid while you hear staff congregating at desk laughing & socializing. I am Disabled (unable to walk) & an Insulin Dependent Diabetic. Had Shoulder Replacement Surgery. Went for 30 days for help with Personal Hygiene Care, with Mobility, & for PT & OT. I left on day 8. Accepted me into the facility but knew they were unable to provide my prescribed pain meds. Room/bathroom was not cleaned for 4 days. LOST MY INSULIN! Did not properly address a potential blood clot. Staff screamed at me for wanting bath. I was told it took too long to help me bathe. Scheduled PT during meals. Rarely got OT. Left on toilet over 30 minutes repeatedly. Low glucose event at night not recorded & nurse tried to give me insulin in the AM right afterwards. Dangerous lack of Communication/meds. Sought help thru proper channels/person in charge refused to come. Dangerous environment! Left for my own safety!

The patients were not allowed to eat with the other patients. If they were lucky enough to get their physical therapy 5 days a week, that was the only time they would be allowed to get out of their room. It was so sad, the depression on the floor broke my heart. The patients were so bored and lonely. Besides therapy, they didn't have anyone coming the rest of the 23 1/2 hours to get them up walking or even standing. How do you rehab if you don't get out of bed or chairs? I could not believe how much my mother atrophied during her "rehab" time. My mother was left in her unrine for over 3 hours. The aide insisted she was not wet. No shower for the first week. This is the most depressing healing place. I introduced my mother and myself to [name removed] and stated all my complaints. His comment was that he was so happy that mom did so well at his rehab. [He] is an uncaring and arrogant person that should never be in charge of any patient care. He is a heartless soul

This place was a complete nightmare for me and my family. The staff was not doing anything for the patients here. My mom did not get a shower or her hair washed for days. The community could have been cleaner for the people.

My loved one had been at this community for some time, and we would have liked for her to be able to stay. It was a very nice looking facility, and they provided wonderful care. The people here are really good. They're very professional and very caring.

A Place for Mom has scored The Meadows at Shannondell 1.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
