This community has a great atmosphere. They have very caring employees for the residents. It was also a great tour and I was able to see everything at the community. They gave me all of the information I needed.

The residents and staff are very friendly and welcoming. The grounds are very clean and my grandmother especially likes the one story and wide hallways. There’s always several activities planned throughout the day and they take outings roughly every other week. My grandmother thoroughly enjoys this place! Her only negative was the food; their chef took another job and they have struggled to find a good replacement. Corporate is addressing the problem and holds meetings to ask the residents for their input. I’m sure they will find a happy medium soon. Overall, we give Brookdale a 5-star rating and would choose this facility again over all the others available in the Tuscaloosa area.

Visited on Sat. 3/10/18 with very nice weekend worker but didn't meet with person that could quote all rates but basically charge for extra services that my brother would need like they did when my two sister in laws lived there before it changed from Merril Gardens. May check back in for a week day appointment at a later date.

Mom is still adjusting to living at this community. My only minor complaint is that the staff does not always return phone calls or is available when we have a question or a concern. The is food is good for the most part. They do offer some daily activities. The residents are friendly, helpful and outgoing. I would recommend taking your time when looking for a community and do not let anyone rush you into moving somewhere.

My mother-in-law is just loving it here. She has a nice sized two bedroom with a kitchenette and she had plenty of room for most of her stuff and so she feels right at home. The staff has been great in helping her settle in. She hasn't done too many of the activities, but she loves going on the field trips the shopping and getting to eat out. She also likes going to the dining room with the other residents and likes visiting. The community is beautiful has a nice courtyard and we feel that we made the right choice.

My father in law spent a week here for respite care and it was a great experience. The community was clean and well taken care of. The person in charge was on top of everything. I am not sure we could have completed all the paperwork without their help. The food was good and the staff were very accommodating. This is a good community and they were real good to my loved one and the family.

My husband is still getting used to the idea of living at Brookdale Northport. I do not have much communication with the staff but they seem friendly and he has not had any complaints. He is not yet participating in any of the activities but he did go to watch the singing performance of a couple. I would recommend this community.

Response from The Landings at Northport
August 12, 2016We really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us! We have passed this information along to our management team for review. We wanted to let you know that our District Dining Director has recently visited the community to provide additional training to the dining team.
I think that everything with the Brookdale Northport so far has been nothing short of excellent. They deserve to have the highest ratings. I can not think of a single thing that they could do to improve on the place.

Mom seems happy at Brookdale Northport. She is not a big breakfast person. So now they bring her muffins to her room. I thought that was really nice. They seem to be a little more personal there. That's about all I know about the facility. Mom is happy and I am happy with that.

They have done well at welcoming my parents. The nurses have been very attentive and any time there has been a need they are right there. They were a little slow in getting the Ac fixed and we did see some roaches, and I don't know if they have sprayed for those or not . Those are the only setbacks though. The people in the dining hall have encouraged my parents to eat. They have just been wonderful and we have been pleased.

Unfortunately my loved one's stay here was only a very brief one so I did not get a good sense of the care they provide, but it did seem like a very nice place when we toured it. It was clean, and the staff seemed friendly and professional.

Things are very well kept at Brookdale Place Northport. I take walks on the side walk and the grounds are really nice. I did change apartments recently and the house cleaning lost touch for a brief moment. But they are back to doing the cleaning now. The staff here are extremely helpful and friendly. They seem to remember names real good and I appreciate that as that is something I am not good at. The food is good and healthy, it's not well seasoned but it is quality. I do wish they exercise equipment here but I am more active than most of the residents. I enjoy utilizing the walking trail though. Overall I am really happy here and nave no complaints!

She is happy there, as much as she can be not being at home. It's clean and everyone is friendly, they get back to me if I have a concern or question. They have activities going on. The food could stand to have a little more little flavor, it's not good country cooking like some of the other places had. It's fresh though and not bad. I don't really have anything else that needs to be improved, other than they could lower the price a little.

They are currently remodling, but with that in consideration they are very clean. I would give the food a three. As far as their medication management, it's ridiculously expensive. The new company has raised the rates. When I chose it It was Merrill Gardens. The staff is wonderful. The size of the apartments are nice and large, the hallways are wide, which is nice. The community room could be larger, where they play bingo, with all the chairs in there it can get dangerous.
