The Carrington is lovely but could be far better. It needs overall updating. We thought it was a new building built in 2018 and it is not. It is showing wear and tear. Furniture needs painting, machines (coffee, teas, and juices) need repair, and an elevator was out for over two months. Apartment designs are not thought out for seniors. There are oversized kitchens when people have meal plans and there is a lack of thought in senior design. You need more than bars. No storage in bathrooms other than under sink. Almost all the units require you to walk through walk-in closets to go to the bathroom and they have two doors. Use pocket doors! Showers elsewhere are tempered glass and have no shower curtains which can mold, are not transparent and are difficult to keep clean. Needs updating. Start one apartment at a time. appliances are relatively new and over complicated for senior use. Any appliances in a senior facility should be user-friendly. They have the new stackable front load washers and dryers with instructions on how to maintain the rubber seals to prevent mold, etc. This is in a senior facility. Why complicate things? Meds are kept in apartment here and this is different from the other facilities we have visited. Food is inconsistent. Hot food is not always warm. Staff is very nice but service is so slow, it needs to be modernized. When food is ready and up for service - the staff needs to be alerted as a reminder. Services hours are very early and/or narrow. Breakfast: 7:30 - 9:30 Lunch: 11:30 - 2:00 pm Dinner: 3:30 - 6:30 pm... Read more

It is quite expensive, and they have raised prices over the year. That makes us less happy. But the facility and the people are great. People should ask not just about current pricing but about historical price increases.

Everyone is soooo nice. Housekeeping is wonderful! The move in process was very smooth. The meals are very good quality, but the only thing that doesn't really work for us is the meal point allotment. It's a use it or lose it system, and sometimes we just have to lose it. I have and will continue to recommend this community!

Everyone is very friendly. They are short-staffed right now, so some things take longer than they should. The amenities offered are very good, and in line with a lot of what we saw at other places. This seems to be a very active community in terms of resident engagement. The apartments are a good size. Some of the 1 bedrooms would be small for a couple, but they do have larger 1 bedrooms and a few 2 bedroom. It is a very friendly facility. Both staff and residents.

The staff is wonderful!! Everyone from the receptionist to the dining crew are super friendly! The housekeeping is good. Communication with the family is good, however we don't need much at this point. My parents see a wonderful psychologist weekly! The kitchen is in a bit of a transition right now as they changed chefs. The quality is great, but there are staffing/timing delays. I would and have already recommended this facility to others.

What we really like about The Carrington will drive the residents to and doctors appointment which is very helpful. It ultimately is our Father-in-law's choice, but I do think we would recommend this community to other families.

I moved to the Carrington to lessen the burden of home ownership and enjoy a more active lifestyle. My experience has been very positive. The community is bright and cheerful, the other residents and staff are warm and welcoming and there is an abundance of activities everyday. The food has been very good with a lot of variety and two choices of where you can dine. I am very happy that I chose the Carrington after visiting over 10 different facilities.

Overall we have had a good experience. The transition for my brother was much more difficult than we imagined and he ended up moving to assisted living after only 2.5 months. In hindsight I wish he had made the move to the retirement community sooner. That said, I would tell folks to expect that the transition might be difficult and require patience to navigate.

My loved one likes the food, it was excellent. It's a great place. This community, met all requirements. My loved is doing very well, and they could not have been more responsive and caring afterwards. The staff was completely helpful. The people in the dining room were the most accomodating. The people were friendly and the nurses were very responsive and knowlegdeable. Everything was clean. It's very inexpensive. I would recommend to other families.

Please do not fall for the sales pitch. They will woo you and smile pretty put the marketing team and management will do whatever it takes to get you in the door. You are better off keeping mom and dad at home and paying for a caregiver. It will cost so must less, but more importantly, they will be safer and better taken care off without their hard earned money falling into a never ending money pit. Every department is understaffed, once your family member is in the door, you better hope they can manage on their own- because that is what they will be. Do not trust what they tell you about assisted living or memory care. I have seen how they care or rather DO NOT care for them. They have been in the news before and the Carringto attributed it to a disgruntled employee. In actuality, many employees have complained about how our elderly are being treated. Once they get too verbal, they are terminated, Rare is the quality employee who stays in-spite of understaffing and underpayment

Response from The Carrington at Lincolnwood
November 22, 2022We are very sorry to hear this feedback. We would be glad to schedule a meeting to discuss your concerns. Please feel free to call The Carrington at 847-393-4883 to be connected to our leadership team.
My father in law is enjoying it there. It's clean, newer. Has excellent workout facilities and pool. Pretty active socially.
They could improve on the orientation for new residents and the family. If you ask a question, you do not get an immediate answer from the staff, they take their time. I wish they moved at a little bit of a quicker pace. They have an enormous amount of activities provided. The actual food served is good, but they do not communicate about the other options available if your loved one does not want one of the main entrees. The communication and follow through could definitely is something that could use some improvement.

The Carrington at Lincolnwood is a newer facility so right when you walk in it feels like an apartment building you would find downtown. It is open, the staff are very welcoming and it is just very inviting. The residents living there seem very comfortable and agree that it has that homier feel to it. It is a lot of money but compared to other places in the area that offer the same thing but for more, the value here is good. The food we think right now is okay, however we do understand they are managing all the covid stuff and stuffing. They do have activities going on.

The Carrington looked very nice and clean. I saw more staff members here which was important to me. It felt staged though, everywhere we went there were staff coming up to me telling me how much they liked the facility and I did not like that.
We chose The Carrington at Lincolnwood because of the openness and it was newer facility as well. I would tell others to make sure to be very specific of your needs before going on. It has not been the perfect fit for my loved one, so I would recommend as long as it fits you are looking for.

The Carrington at Lincolnwood is absolutely beautiful. It is new and clean and they have a ton of amenities provided for residents. Our loved one needed a higher level of care and would not have been able to use those amenities which is why we kept looking.
The food is good but sometimes with the service they get the orders wrong and the meals have to be redone. However, our loved ones absolutely love The Carrington, they have high ceilings and nice wide hallways. The apartments have nice big windows that brings in a lot of bright and natural light. Also, every time we go to visit everyone is out of their rooms, mingling and playing games which we really like to see.

The service in the dining room has been relatively poor due to not enough staff. The community has done great at the reopening of the community and dining room. They did a great job at keeping the residents and staff safe during COVID. They are occasionally running low on supplies for nursing care.

I think this is a good option, and especially considering they are doing a lifetime rate lock-in presently. the facilities and care seem great, its a larger community but new so there is diversity in the residents. The pool is nice, as are the apartments (including ADA). Only drawback is no staffed coffee shop.

I chose The Carrington at Lincolnwood because it was a newer facility as well as the fact that it is open and spacious. The apartment sizes here are excellent for what I need. It has been a good experience and I would recommend to others looking.
