Response from Summit Place of Mooresville
August 10, 2024Hello Sandy, thank you; we appreciate your feedback. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you; we are more than happy to help!
So far we have been generally pleased with most aspects. Housekeeping is very friendly, non intrusive to my cousins routine (will come back to his room if he requests another time etc and faculty appears clean and well maintained/ Most of staff are outgoing and pleasant Special nod to [name removed] and [name removed]in memory care. There seems to have been a significant evacuation of personnel who do not provide direct personal care recently. This was concerning but level of care does not seem impacted. In the memory unit there does not seem to be enough meaningful diversion, though most residents would not be able to participate. Most staff responds to requests very quickly (I did ask for a cup of coffee in the afternoon for my cousin one day and was told by one of the aides that "we don't have any back here". I asked her to please go to "out there" to get one. For amount of $ paid- a cup of coffee should not be a problem .Food fresh and choice of 2 selections helps. However, when a piece of meat is given it is not cut and a knife is never provided. More activities offered in non locked unit. Cost is high, but inline with other facilities

Response from Summit Place of Mooresville
September 11, 2023Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We hope you have a great day!
Going on week three with this amazing community and I’m still in awe at how wonderful this transition has been for my Dad. He is thriving like I haven’t seen in a long time. The compassion that the staff provides is beyond anything I could have ever hoped for. He loves his apartment, the awesome staff, their fun activities, delicious meals, and receiving his medication on time along with physical therapy. This community feels like home and when I’m away, I know my Dad is in good hands.

Friendly staff, good food service even during Covid, there were daily activities but my family member did not participate, staff was friendly to family members as well as resident, this facility provided diabetic care based on doctors orders. Much better experience than another last cal facility family member had been in.

Memory care manager is rude and sarcastic. Everytime I come to the facility I hear her talking about someone every day to other employees. She is rude to employees and family members, this is probably why they can’t keep staff. The managers up front seem to allow bare minimum behavior from workers, when you walk into the facility everyone is on their phones, just sitting. While family members are drenched in urine and waste. You voice complaints and they are never addressed. The meals are nothing for the amount you pay to keep your family here. The carpets are disgusting and smell of urine and waste. The house keepers don’t clean anything. Never toilet paper and paper towels I just wouldn’t recommend.

We chose Summit Place of Mooresville because it was the closest to my house so I could walk there if I had to. They were also able to handle his diabetic needs as well. It is a smaller facility which we felt he would get more one on one attention and care. A lot of the staff has been here quite a while so they do not seem to have the turnover that most other facilities have right now. With the food they get choices for each of the 3 meals, if he does not like any choices on the menu, he can always select to have something off of the alternate menu. The meals are served on dishes with real silverware. He prefers to eat in his room and they bring it to him without any charge, it is always hot when he gets it. I would recommend them to others looking.

The ED does not return calls or emails. The memory care "manager" is very rude and certainly does not care about the residents needs. My mom is always soiled and her nails are filthy. You can never find an employee when you need one. if you can find someone they are always on their phones. I am currently waiting for a memory care bed to become available at another facility then will be moving her asap.

We have not been happy with our experience so far, we know covid has impacted it since we have not been able to physically see the inside of community. The communication has been poor, they don't reply back to emails or return calls in a timely manner, and they have ran out of our loved ones medication which is unacceptable, but there are some very lovely people there.

Response from Summit Place of Mooresville
March 3, 2021I am the Executive Director and wanted to reach out to you. Exceeding our resident and family expectations is our goal every time, and I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns with you personally. Please contact me at the community at your earliest convenience, and I look forward to speaking with you.
My mother was a resident of the Summit Place in Mooresville and fied there because of inadequate staffing, poorly trained staff and lack of licensed nurse supervision of staff. Over the two year period my mother at the Summit, there was never a full time registered nurse employed at the facility. A visiting nurse came by once every two weeks for a couple hours to review care plans but never saw the residents. Poor personal heigen and infestation of bedbugs existed. Management did not tell residents or their families of the bed bug problem. I didn't mons laundry and was told by a personal care assistant who was concerned I might infest my own home with bedbug transfer. My mother died at the Summit because the medication technician working day shift felt mom was passing away and there was no need to call 911during the 8 hours that Mom lay gasping for her breath because mom had a DNR. A DNA MEANS Do not RESUSSITATE. It does NOT mean, Do Not TREAT. As a Nursr Practitioner and daughter of deceased, I strongly recommend that you never entrust you rolled one to the inadequately trained and poorly supervised staff if the Summit Place who requires Management operate on a show string budget with inadequate and unlicensed staffing and no registered nurse on site.

I am very happy with them so far. The food would be about a three. They have lots of activities. I liked that it was smaller and all one floor. It was also one of the more reasonably priced places. I would give them an overall five at this point.

This is one of the places we toured. It was very nice. What stood out most about this visit, is that while I was sitting in lobby, waiting for my tour, the lady at desk was very busy, and a resident needed a cola. The lady stopped what she was doing to take care of her. That was really nice of her. I thought everyone was very professional and helpful. I really couldn't say anything negative about them, it was just a little further out from where I was looking.

They have been pretty good, they are clean and friendly. They do have a good variety of activities, not as many as some places, but a good variety. To me it looks like a very nice menu, he complains that it's not that good. I think it may be the healthiness of the meals, and lack of salt and sugar, that are causing the complaints. They have two choices for every meal, and there is an alternate menu that is always available. I think I would give the food a four. They had the best price point of the places we looked at. We liked the people that showed us around. They have been very accommodating.

Smaller facility with only studio apartments; not what we are looking for at this time but we liked what we saw in the memory care unit and would definitely consider this should Mom's condition deteriorate where she needs this level of care.

There were some problems with medication. I would encourage people with loved ones moving into any community to give it a couple of months. There is such a shock and adjustment that even if they hate it at the beginning, just wait it out. The caregivers and the kitchen staff and the cooks were good they did a fine job. We had issues with the director and the administrator. It was clean and beautiful though.

Upon touring many facilities we choose the Summit because of its cleanliness, friendlness. Felt right at home the minute we walked in that when I knew it was the right place for my mom.

Had old age home feel, look, and smell. Could not find much staff around when we walked in to get a tour. Looked nice from the outside. Had almost no parking. Had to park across a busy street. Patients looked sad.
