I would definitely recommend the facility if you can afford it. The staff really want to help during the troubling times, even though you may not know it at the time. It's been a while since I've lived there, but I keep in touch with the residents and they tell me that the food is getting better. There seem to be more choices now.... Read more

We toured StoryPoint Troy and it is beautiful; it's a really nice, nice place. They don't take Medicaid, only self pay. It wasn't a good fit for that reason.
During my mom's three month stay on some days it was great, and on other days it was not. Just like every place, they are understaffed and can only do so much with the people they were given. On the not-so-good days, she didn't get showered when she was supposed to. I realize she can refuse, but she was in memory care, so there are ways around that. If she didn't want to do anything they wouldn't make her or try to reason with her. That wasn't all of them, there were some good caretakers and there were some not-so-good ones. In regards to communication - if I didn't ask questions, nothing was told to me. When I addressed issues they were somewhat responsive, but it did always take a while.

No help - real bad weekends, management once 1 wk or maybe month, nights care givers under staff, meals not healthy, lots salt and cheese, seasons in food, example - peanutbutter pie

July 5, 2022Hello, Thank you for providing feedback. We are disappointed to hear about your concerns. We follow state guidelines and requirements in regards to staffing our care team. We also have at least part of our management team onsite at the community every single day. Our Executive Chef is always open to resident feedback about our culinary experience, and we encourage you to reach out to him directly. If you would like further discuss the details of your review or areas we have for improvement, please call the community and ask to speak with our Executive Director.
I want to HIGHLY recommend Storypoint Troy senior living community. There are 1 and 2 bedroom apartments in the independent living portion of this facility. Employees from the Director down are very friendly, caring, helpful, loving to all residents. Food is chef prepared to order and is very delicious from appetizers to dessert and residents get their choice of items on the menu and can even get anything else if the kitchen has it they will prepare it. Activities and menus are ALL resident driven. Activities director prepares some really fun activities, games like bingo and pokeno, crazy sock day, pj day, and so much more. Residents are ALL very loving, caring, friendly and makes a point to get to know new residents. Many new residents arrive and within 2-3 weeks they are participating in activities, bus trips, and more. Residents can get caregiving services as well as meals delivered to their room, laundry services, nursing services, etc.

beautiful - peaceful room. hallway, even the elevator are always clean. no bad smells. meals (supper) are always hot/very warm and very good.
I wouldn't recommend them because of the therapy aspect. When I did the tour and the walk through, they had me talk with the guy who does the therapy there. After using their services, it was just not what they made it out to be. The therapy is contacted through another entity, and it was not a pleasant experience. Also, the memory care unit was short-staffed, and I don't think my loved one received the care I was told she was going to get.

March 31, 2022Hi Kimberly, Thank you for providing feedback. We are disappointed to hear about your experience with therapy. As you pointed out, therapy is contracted through a third-party provider. Although we have a preferred provider, our residents are free to work with anyone they would prefer. We are open to discussing how we can support families better in this area, but we ultimately encourage you to provide direct feedback to the therapy provider. The pandemic has presented unique challenges in regards to staffing, but we are committed to not compromising on the care we provide for our residents. If you would like to further discuss your review and the areas we have for improvement, please call the community and ask to speak with our Executive Director. Thank you.
Being able to let the residents enjoy their stay here
Very welcoming place of employment, a lot of teamwork.
Everyone who lives here and works here is very friendly. The enlighment introduced me to the people who work here. They have activities every day. You can or can not participate. You are never bored. Everyone who lives here 80 or 90 stays active and sharp. Thank you StoryPoint
When I did my previous review, I forgot to rate [name removed], the physical therapist who provides us with 1/2 hour exercises 5 days a week. He is excellent.
The staff is very helpful and does a very good job taking care of our needs.
I've lived here since [date removed]. No other place can compare with my beautiful home. I have been treated like a queen.
Nicest place around. Staff is great!
I am pretty happy here. They keep us as busy as they can.
This is a clean, safe and very welcoming community. We couldn't be happier.
We love living here!
The staff is always very considerate and helpful. My mother is very happy here!
I really enjoy being around all the staff and residents. The staff puts in excellent effort. The most important thing is to be able to rat right and this place goes above and beyond with that. Everyone is very qualified and this is my home!
Staff and residents are wonderful. They answer questions, very helpful. It does not smell like a nursing home, always have activities for the residents. They will provide transportation for any outing. It's a wonderful place to live.

A Place for Mom has scored StoryPoint Troy 9.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
