The experience here has been wonderful so far. Mom enjoys the meals, that’s very important to her. 3 meals a day served restaurant style, and a menu that changes daily. Employees are very accommodating and helpful in every way. Her apartment gets cleaned once a week. Everyone has been so friendly, the residents are concerned about their neighbors. There are rides to appointments. Washers and dryers available. Saw 4 deer just outside the dining room window couple days ago. Physical and occupational therapy will be within the facility soon, that’s incredible. Activities, library, exercise, movies and pet friendly too. I love how the residents never have to move, as the care they need may increase, the care comes to them in their apartment. The Marquette is more like community of friends than I imagined, nothing like the “senior housing” I thought it would be. They are each given an alert necklace, each chooses if they want to wear it. Health care in general has gone to hell. My dad died shortly after being moved there. We were pressured to go on hospice so we could get all the help he needed... we were told people can live for a long time on hospice but unfortunately that's not how it went down. I am definitely not looking forward to getting old.

I'm really not sure I would recommend at this time. Although this place is now under StoryPoint management so there will be changes. The cleanliness is not very good. When it comes to the meals sometimes they are good and other times they are not.

The outside of the facility is Attractive. It is the only housing on a large piece of property. However, the inside of the facility is in need of major renovations. The carpet on all floors is worn and torn. The dining room chairs are worn and torn. The manager, assistant manager, chief, activities Director, are all new within the last Two weeks to 5 months. The temporary maintenance person left last week. The dining room staff are all very nice and they also try to vacuum residence lots apartments between meals.
It was the first place and only place we looked at. We had heard good reviews from a dear friend of mine. The price and close location to our house and my work sold it as well.

That even though there's help there, the person's family still needs to be very involved in their daily life. It's a decent facility but they seem to be short staffed like most places these days. We picked this community because cost was a huge factor.

I would say it was a positive experience. Location was good and it was homey and nice. My mother was there during some of The Marquette's harder years- COVID and wage changes that made it hard to keep staff. They tried hard in spite of it all

We took a tour of Holiday The Marquette during our search for a facility for our loved one. This facility was dated. The facility also had an unpleasant smell. We decided to continue on with our search.
Corporate seems oblivious to the real issues affecting the building. They believe what they want but not what is real. It used to be a nice place. Too bad. The previous owners cared about the residents and the staff.

Overall we've had a good experience at The Marquette. I like that it's an independent living facility but has the safety of having people around and meals prepared for my loved one.

This facility has been terribly managed for the last year (if not longer). Linens and towels were not changed and bathroom not cleaned for 4 months. They didn't inform family members of this situation and expected the residents to advocate for themselves. They also didn't notify family members when a resident tested positive for Covid or when he entered the facility with a large bandage on his head. This is unacceptable. I would not place a family member here.

January 6, 2023Sandy, thank you for reaching out. We set a high standard for delivering quality, and it's concerning to hear about your experience. The health and wellbeing of our residents and employees and is our top priority, and we have thorough Covid-19 and infection control protocols. I have shared your comments with the Regional Vice President. If you’d like to tell us more about your concerns, please email us at CustomerService@AtriaSeniorLiving.com.
Holiday The Marquette was a beautiful building. It was clean and very pretty. But to me, it felt like more of an aging community, more of a stereotypical older folks home than independent living. And I didn't feel as much sense of community. It was a nice place, and the staff seemed very accommodating to the residents. We just didn’t get that homey feeling we were looking for.
They could use some increased activities. They have been very accommodating during a difficult adjustment period for my loved one. Made the transition very smooth and very easy to process.

our tour experience of The Marquette was great! we had a lovely tour guide who did everything great and gave us a little dinner from their dining area. they had care services on site which may have worked for us had I known my dads situation would change. we chose another community because The Marquette was a little further than I liked and it's a 2 story building, and my loved one preferred everything to be on one floor.
I live here as a tenant until my new house is finished. I do not go to the dining room or participate in any activities.

October 20, 2021Hello, thank you for your review. Do you have any suggestions for things we can improve upon? We see the 3-star rating and are wondering if there's anything that was not to your satisfaction. Please let us know. Thank you!
It's a great place for any senior to be. They provide additional care services if your loved one needs them. The community is a newer, cleaner place. I would defiantly recommend this community to others

A Place for Mom has scored StoryPoint East Lansing 8.1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
